Arsenal (A) - PL Post Match Thread

The people who were at the match or watched on TV please.
How did John Stones play? I appreciate he would be rusty but did he look ok and did he walk off the pitch without a limp or anything??

Thank you. :-) :-)
Played in midfield looked good in the close spaces & showed good vision to try and link to attackers with some clever forward passes. However he did give the ball away once which in understandable given he has missed the last 10+ games. Rolls Royce player shame he wasn’t considered fit to start in my view as we have looked much improved.
Am hugely disappointed he will be expected to join up with England now & presumably play

I thought he looked cautious when he came on which its understandable. Hope waistcoat treats him with kid gloves and uses that carthorse Maguire instead.

I hope so - as one of Englands game is just a friendly. No reason to play him. Or Walker for that matter. I don’t think the rest of the back line (Ake, Akanji, Gvardiol, Dias) will get any rest over the break.

We were lucky to get nil. Let the Goons celebrate winning the Premier league in October and then we'll come back in a few weeks and dismantle Brighton. These games happen, we were slow and lethargic and we all know Rodders was a huge miss. We are the only team capable of putting 10-12 game winning run together and that is what we will do before the seasons out.

.

Also, everybody else is capable of beating each other and Now we have Newcastle in the top 6 things are going to get very tight in trying to put a big run of wins together,

The best thing is the challenge, Pep loves nothing more than taking them all on, it sort of keeps him hungry and he will never let the players slip and let them feel safe, Pep demands greatness and a work rate in training 2nd to none.

For me, the new season started and City was not ready because of a load of things like the Winter World Cup, the late end of last season because of the Champions League final, then 2 international games, and No pre-season. Manchester City had the most players at the World Cup and at the international games after the Champions League final.

Pep said he likes a small squad. But the new demands on players with the amount of football we have to play this season may need looking at in the winter transfer window.

Thank you for that reassurance @brazilians hurt. I just needed to know that he was getting his old form back and I wasn’t over optimistic voting for him. Cheers. :-)

5 of our next 6 league games are really tough ones.
Exactly! And, in there are the Home and Away Young Boys games butted up against Chelsea and United and another Intl Break!

We need to win both the Young Boys games to win the Group and rotate the CL squad for the two remaining games, otherwise we are having to play full strength repeatedly every 3 days!

[INTL BREAK]*
Brighton (H)
Young Boys (A)
United (A)
[Bournemouth (H)]
Young Boys (H)
Chelsea (A)
[INTL BREAK]*
Liverpool (H)
Leipzig (H)
Spurs (H)
Villa (A)

* Virtually the entire squad will be away and playing another 180 mins within a few days, plus intl travel

That’s the fixtures for the next 60 days!

With the exception of Arsenal, whom we’ve just played and to whom we have lost, there is a case to be made that we are embarking on a run of games where we will face the Top 8 and play two, if not three, crucial CL games!
