Arsenal (H) - FA Cup | Post Match Thread

What's the crack with substitutes at the moment? Why aren't they dressed and ready to go on the pitch at a moments notice. Laporte didn't even have his shirt or shin pads on for God's sake. It was ridiculous, and not a one off nowadays.

I would say long passes rather than a lump forward. Often just nothing on short. I thought he did well.

I also suspect it was part of the game plan.
Surely if it was part of the game plan then we should have had plyers closer to him to take advantage of the chaos. He never had any of our players anywhere near him at these times to either run on to the flick on or challenge for the loose ball. It didn’t make much sense to me and Haaland isnt the greatest at holding the ball up and bringing others into the game. He is a top goal machine but his all round game needs work.

6. Since Aguero left we cannot retain possession from a throw in! Our default game plan was simple, find Aguero and he would set the pattern.
From foul throws, to throwing to the opposition, we simply have no game plan.
Other teams know exactly where they are going before picking the ball up, we have no clue, spend far too long thinking about it before giving up possession cheaply.
A basic understanding of football that we regressed on.

Remember when Tomiyasu made 4 or 5 fouls on the same player and never got a booking. I do but Paul Tierney didn't.

Was a good win against a good team, strongest rivals this season.

I believe this won't have an impact on the league encounter, but it's nice to continue to win.
They reminded me of us from last year and the past seasons. Very hungry, work as a team to win the ball back. You could see the influence Pep has had on Arteta.

I'm not so sure these days. Certainly the Ederson of old had better passing but the recent Ederson? I'm not so sure. His kicks out to the FBs have frequently been flying out of play and his longer kicks often to nobody.
I agree Ederson's passing hasn't been at its best but I still think by and large he is doing stuff that most keepers including Ortega just don't have "in their locker". But I don't want to come across as overly negative about Ortega because I think we finally have a back up keeper who wouldn't scare the shit out of me if Ederson was out for a long period. And I do think Ederson needs a bit of a shake to get his full focus back because the passing comes so easy to him that he looks a bit complacent about it at the moment but I could say similar about half the team.

Seems the norm against us I though a player makes 3/4 four fouls from the back it’s a yellow! Or can a player maker as many fouls as them want!?

Ederson hits his passes with a lot more pace than Ortega, who when he goes long just sort of chips it and allows opposing players the time to challenge for the ball.
Was impressed by his saves though last night & hes a good back up to have

Often just nobody short to pass to. Part of our tactics yesterday I think.
I accept that to a point but isn't one of the notable things about us over the last few years that we have the bravery to pass out from the back even when there is a press and when it appears that the sensible decision would be to go long. I'm not convinced if Ederson plays last night he just punts it up to half way every time. Maybe the tactics were to some extent shaped precisely because Ederson wasn't playing?

We've never been any good a throw ins, ever. It's always amazed me that any opposition have been able to find their player, get out of trouble or start an attack whilst we seem to waste loads of time and then throw straight at them.

That'll do, put down a marker with the result.

Not the best performance but better 2nd half.

Tierney shit the bed on multiple occasions, should have sent Zinchenko off, Holding should have been booked way earlier and Tomiyasu made 4 or 5 fouls on Grealish and was never booked. Turner took nearly 30 seconds on every goal kick, never booked, Gundogan took 10 seconds on a free-kick, instantly booked.
Paul Tierney..... pah, more like fucking Poor Tierney

Just watching last nights ITV match intro, can't believe this bullshit about an arse weekend side and City going full strength. How funny is that, total bullshit, always thought Ederson, Walker, Dias, Cancelo, Laporte, Alvarez and Silva were our main first teamers, not one to be seen on the pitch at kick off.
Good, let hope this narrative continues in the media and filters down into Arsenals thinking and makes them over confident when we meet them in the PL.
You also forgot Foden.

Had paid for a ticket on the FA Cup scheme but didn’t go last night. My Google Wallet still showing the Wolves match when I checked last night and this morning so wouldn’t have been able to get in anyway.

What is going on?
You would have got in mate.
My wallet showed Wolves but the steward at the turnstile told me the barcode would work but checked on his device for me before I tried.

One of things the media bang on about and did again last night is the comparative squad depths, City of course have two players for each position etc however what is always missed and probably needs to be said is City get longevity out of our players. Silva, Stones, Walker, De Bruyne, Ederson, Gundogan etc have all been at the club over five years, in the same time Arsenal have bought and then basically given away Pepe, Aubameyang, Lacazette for over £200m, and that’s just three players.

If that guy wasn't taking a handful of Erling's shirt he had his arms round his neck. Another abysmal performance from a referee who seemed to be quite clear in who was getting what last night. I've given up getting a free kick for a 50-50 but when it's a blatant foul we're getting about one in three! The CBs marking Haaland must be the only example of defenders not being penalised in the whole 90mins in a quite frantic football match. Wonder how Tierney would explain that if he had a mic shoved up his nose!

Arsenal have been one of the biggest spenders over the last 5 years and have certainly spent far more than us.
They've signed 2 players this month alone, one of whom started last night.
This is despite far lower revenues than us and no UCL football for 5 years.
If it is the case that Arsenal have "no depth", they've only themselves to blame.

There was one chunk of about 50 empty seats in the whole stadium and that was in the arsenal end. Every other seat was taken. Modern football fans talk such shite these days.
I wouldn’t say taken, sold maybe but a few no shows, probably on the cup scheme and thought can't be arsed at the last minute, odd behaviour but it happens a lot.

A couple of sections in family stand which I always find odd, as well, makes me wonder if a coach didn't turn up or whatever.
