City fans are seen as more deserved of their success because they suffered for so long, and city as a club are seen as a lesser of all the other evils. I guess this will change when city fans stop feeling lucky and start feeling entitled, which is whats happening now.
I remember going into a pub outside the emirates after we beat stoke 3-1 earlier this season, reason I went in was the loud cheers I was hearing, I see city 3 united 0 on the big screen and everyone dancing about in their arsenal shirts.
Maybe "hating" arsenal is what other big clubs do so this is just manchester city fans assuming their position to create a rivalry that doesnt really exist.
The other thing I find significant on the forum in general, is how manchester city fans are always looking for reactions to their wins, theyve just stuck 6 past us playing swashbuckling football and its as if they want validation from the press, wenger, arsenal fans. They need to understand that they will never get that, and they should not be looking for that. Just enjoy being the best and know that it irks everyone else. When we didnt lose a game all season the press were still having a go at us for not winning the treble. Other managers and other fans will never laud your achievements, but they all would love to swap teams with you. I know I would.
I've always had lots I respect for Arsenal and was very happy when you won the league. But in my experience it's Arsenal fans who have seemed to turn on us since we become successful.
i think the adebayor clichy toure transfers may have soured things, but things seem to have worked out well for everyone since, apart from adebayor and toure hehe.
There will always be tense rivalry in a title race, thats normal, but from arsenal's point of view it will never cross the boundaries that it did with man utd, we hated their players, their manager, their style of play, their fans, and often used man city as a stick to beat them with (real mancs support city). We hate spurs and chelsea too , for various reasons, so when we dont have a chance with the league its natural that we want city to win it, the aguero goal was celebrated as if we scored it in my household. Even the style of play, city play fantastic football, man utd used to kick us off the field and call us soft foreigners. In a way there was no surprise yesterday ended 6-3 , 2 teams that just want to play football, with one doing it better than the other. The match was also played in the right spirit. None of the nastiness you usually get in a top of the table clash.
