Those stats do put it in context joe mercer, I was looking through the other day to see who they faced and noticed that they didn't face many top premier league sides. In the context of all competition they have beaten Napoli, Bayern and lost to Chelsea and Dortmund so a continued suggestion of a mixed bad against the top teams. To be fair though, they can only beat who is in front of them, they played well against Liverpool but I wonder if they will struggle to break down the rags and chelsea who will play tight and compact and hit them on the counter. Against City I think it is the likes of Yaya and Fernandinho that will win us the games because they have that superior strength on the ball. We also have more options in the striking department. You can only beat who is in front of you though and it would be nice for City to show some similar consistency now and beat those lower placed sides regularly. If we can win the next three then Chelsea game aside we are on a good run.

Stats from previous seasons dont mean anything, otherwise the same team would win the league every year.

The arsenal team from 3 seasons ago didnt have Giroud cazorla ozil arteta mertesacker flamini , and the likes of ramsey wilshere and sczcesny were 19. Usually teams that win the league do it by beating all the lesser teams, last season Manchester United lost at home to city spurs and chelsea and still finished miles ahead.

Yet Arsenal have a remarkably consistent record over those 3 seasons, the same manager and the trends, although not indicative of how their season will pan out, are enough to rein in their wild and over the top optimism because of the good run they've been on.

If Arsenal's team this year is going to challenge then they are going to have to improve on the weaknesses in previous seasons that this run hasn't been tested against.

yep, you win the league when your not playing well - do you still pick up points. This has been Arsenal's problem and the test is still to come this season.

You can also win the league if every one else isnt playing well, that's how united won it last season, after losing their first match, and this season is following a similar pattern so far, I kept waiting for united to collapse because looking at their team I didnt see anything special, but other teams never got their own houses in order, and there are similarities so far this season.

United had already been to Liverpool and Chelsea away and won, as well as Arsenal home. They lost to Spurs at home and Everton away but had already got 5 tough fixtures out the way, Arsenal have had 2, both at home.

If they don't get out of their CL group, they have even more of a chance to make a big push for the league.

not really as if they don't make it they'll def finish 3rd and head into the Europa, and their confidence will be battered.
If they overlook the Europa League (which I think they would to focus on their first real chance at the league in years), then yes really.

Arsenal cannot overlook the Europa League. Their League Cup side was a lot stronger than in previous seasons. They need to win a trophy at all costs. They will play a strong team in any and every competition to do so no matter how it may be regarded.
