Arsenal Thread 2015/16

Never heard of Sir Chips Keswick. When did he take over the chairmanship of Arsenal ?
His full name is Sir John Chippendale Lindley Keswick and he's a member of the family that founded Jardine Matheson, whih is a trading conglomerate mainly operating in the Far East. He took over from Peter Hill-Wood (who was an investment banking colleague of his) two years ago.

He was getting a bit irate at the AGM yesterday as people kept asking questions he didn't want to answer. Like why were they paying Stan Kroenke's company £3m a year without a written contract and what they were getting for that. Keswick seemed to imply they were getting good advice from Kroenke that led to them winning two consecutive FA Cups.

You can imagine the conversation:
"Stan, we've won fuck all for years and we need your advice. How do we win trophies"
"Well there's the Champions & Premier Leagues but we'd have to spend a shit load of money to win those so that's out. But how about the FA Cup?"
"That's great Stan. How do we go about winning that?"
"I suggest we concentrate on beating the teams we're drawn against."
"Briliant Stan, brilliant. Here's £3m."

And yet when you have a conversation with an Arsenal-fan they say how they are a healthy club who do not depend on one person being a foreign owner with money that can look for another toy tomorrow, and that they are not throwing money at players or paying absurd wages, giving (British) youth players a chance, while they can only agree on the expensive ticketprices at ... the Emirates.

Go on any of their websites they despise us to a man the insufferable entitled twats.
Plenty of City bingo clichés and vile xenophobic comments re petrol money etc. Absolutely no acknowledgement of the overall strategy of ownership of front loading investment that was required or how successful it has been. They're worse than that shower from Trafford. I've seen plenty of City fans try to present our case on such sites in a generally low key manner, needless to say they shouldn't have bothered. No time for them and hope we beat them handsomely every time we play them - fucking tarquins!

Are you really surprised? Arsenal fans are up there with the most deluded set of fans in football. They are often impossible to have a conversation with and get any reasonable opinion from. They fail season after season yet still see themselves at the top of the tree. 2fa cups does not mask the fact that their main aim each season is a top 4 finish. That's the height of their ambition.

A better, more clinical team would have punished them before they got going today. Their top players stepped up eventually though, Sanchez especially. I think they have the best full backs in the league currently and Koscielny is solid. The midfield pair of Coquelin and Cazorla protect the defence well (Though were bypassed often today) and are good with the ball.

There's one particular poster on one of their forums who's every waking moment must be consumed by his hatred of us. The bile he spills and the salty tears he cries are a thing to behold.

It's because we had the temerity to win the league in two of the last four seasons. It's a warped, deluded sense of entitlement thing.

I just await their usual annual fuck up around Jan/February to slide them back down the table around 3-4th. We say this every season that they'll be more of a threat and every year they drop points to the likes of villa, West brom and Sunderland etc and struggle with injuries. This season is no different, especially how they havent strengthened at all by adding any outfield players to the squad.

We brought germanys top physio in last summer and started seeing a major reduction in injuries since the turn of the year. all of our top players are fit, we also have wilshere/welbeck/rosicky to come back, not as starters apart from maybe wilshere but they are excellent players to have on the bench. In the second half of last season (and a few other recent seasons as well) we took more points then any other team, even chelsea who won the league, so this annual fuck up around jan/feb is a bit of a cliche. Regarding consistency, in 2015 so far again we've picked up more points then anyone else. Of course i know the season isn't a calendar year but the point is we've been pretty consistent for 11 months now.

It's not however a cliché to say that Arsenal are perennial bottle merchants. I don't think you will mount a serious challenge for the title, you haven't done for years and you still seem to be flat track bullies. You look great against crap teams but crumble against the big sides. The result against the rags might mean I'm wrong but I doubt it.
