Arsenal Thread 2015/16

I just await their usual annual fuck up around Jan/February to slide them back down the table around 3-4th. We say this every season that they'll be more of a threat and every year they drop points to the likes of villa, West brom and Sunderland etc and struggle with injuries. This season is no different, especially how they havent strengthened at all by adding any outfield players to the squad.

The first half of last season was the worst in terms of points total in Wengers time. We've actually got more points than anyone in 2015, so the signs are good.
Still think City are favourites, and I'm very happy if we keep getting dismissed, no need for added pressure, but we look good right now.

We weren't before the start of the season, in fact most pundits tipped us to finish out of the top 3 and some of them said we would be outside the top 4.
It's far to early to call. Chelsea will come back, they have too good a squad not to. There's nothing in it at the moment, although I have a horrible feeling that this season will end up being like our title winning season with Mancini. We will blow teams away by 3 or 4 goals and the rags will get stuffy 1-0 wins week after week. It will be close by the end of the season, I don't think any team will walk away with it. I just hope they don't do to us what we did to them.

I don't know why so many pundits dismissed you in pre season, it did not make sense with the squad you have. Probably the narrative was to get Pellegrini sacked, and the platform was provided by a lot of your fans. They do the same with Wenger.
I don't think Chelsea will get back in the title picture, I expect them to get 4th but no higher.
It's between 3 teams and one of us or United will fall away , I don't expect it to be us. City will stay up there all season, you're the team to beat, if we finish above you we win it.

It's not however a cliché to say that Arsenal are perennial bottle merchants. I don't think you will mount a serious challenge for the title, you haven't done for years and you still seem to be flat track bullies. You look great against crap teams but crumble against the big sides. The result against the rags might mean I'm wrong but I doubt it.

Hadn't you not won a title for years before you did in 2011 or whenever it was? And crumbling to big sides, we haven't done that either for a while now, might have lost but certainly not crumbled, which is an entirely different thing - any big team can lose a close match against another big team. This season we've beaten utd, drew Liverpool and lost a close game against Chelsea. Last year we drew against Chelsea in a close match, beat you, beat utd in fa cup, beat Liverpool etc etc. I didn't say we will win the title anyway, but to say we WONT simply on the basis we haven't won it for years and using the old cliches as if they somehow still true isn't really a valid argument. And being able to beat the small teams is a trait that would have won you a few more titles, it's hardly a bad thing to be able to do.

If I remember correctly, most of the writing off came before you brought sterling de bryne and ottemendi. de bryne reminds of Fabregas in his best Arsenal days, very very similar player, and that's a very big compliment indeed. You have one hell of a player there, other then augero the only player you have that I'm jealous of.

Plus Samir of course.

Good result for Arsenal last night.

From the way it's being reported, we should be arm-in-arm against the way it's reported by the scrotes in the press.

I don't think Arsenal should be dismissed this season. Though they have flaws, it's easy to spot flaws in our own squad and in Chelsea and the rags. They've been very good this calendar year and if they avoid major injuries they'll be a threat. With Cazorla and Coquelin they have the right balance of creativity and defence and they have so much attacking talent. It's whether they can keep Giroud, Cazorla and Coquelin fit for the majority of the season as to whether they'll challenge. They have back up options but they're not as good and Walcott will not get them the goals they need, his pace is hard to defend but Giroud is the bigger goal threat.

It will be interesting to see what happens with the CL first. Knowing what teams are still in, which ones are out and which are in Europa league will make a big impact. If any of the CL clubs end up in the Europa it's game over in the league. We have a big game tonight and if Arsenal lose in Munich and Olympiakos win then they'll have a huge game when they play each other.
