Arsenal Thread 2015/16

and if they aren't good enough why hasn't he had the vision and foresight to see that beforehand, and therefore not pick them?

Who are we supposed to pick then? Our first choice 11? Or close to our first 11? I think he picked team simply because he had to put 11 out and wanted to use as little 1st and 2nd choice players as possible. Per only played because he didn't play against everton.

He's probably already gonna get stick for ox and walcott getting injured playing in the most unimportant of the 4 competitions. Imagine we lose ozil who could be so instrumental to our title hopes, because he gets injured in a carling cup game against sheff wed?

Apart from the silly sarcasm, i agree that i don't think anyone connected with the club will give 2 shits about being out of this competition, its almost impossible to juggle 4 competitions and to lose players like walcott ox for the sake of a crap competition the no one really cares about is ridiculous.

It's not a crap competition though is it? It's a traditional trophy which any team would be happy to win. Or does it only count if it's the FA cup, funnily enough?

The only players who have a chance of coming into the team if anyone gets injured were debuchy and chambers and gibbs. But i don't think he was referring to them when he said they weren't capable of playing at that level, that was aimed at the other 5/6 players.

Well first of all i didn't agree with starting giroud or ox, or having walcott come on - thats 2 of our 1st choice strikers as well as the only fit player we have to play on the right since ramsey got injured.

However, can hardly blame wenger for the injuries, he had to put 11 players out there and they could have got injured in any game even a england friendly.

As for the rest, i really don't understand your post. Take a look at the names we had playing today - if you knew about arsenal you'd know we'd have to have almost our entire 1st 2nd and maybe even 3rd 11 injured before ANY of those players would get called upon for any important league games. The reality is we don't have a lot of great youngsters available, the most promising ones are out on loan (gnarby, akpom, crowley, zelalem, another young striker at ipswich etc).

The point I was making was what sort of manager says that about his young talent? Whether he needs them on Saturday or two months from now he has publicly stated that he played them in a game they weren't ready for ( agreeing with the point you made ref these players ) and I just don't think its a sensible thing to say.

As for the more promising youngsters being out on loan - well thats for the myopic one to answer

I think the fa cup rates a lot higher to most football fans, and its the most unimportant competition of the 4. For me it doesn't stir any sense of excitement. Of course if you got to the final you'd still want to win it and would probably love it cos its still a trophy. Im just saying that in the earlier stages i would be annoyed to lose any 1st team players to injury in this competition. If he put a weak team out in the fa cup id be pissed off as thats totally different and not just cos we've won it recently, its a comp that I've always wanted us to do well in.

I haven't heard the interview but if he did say exactly that, id guess he's just extremely annoyed and had a dig at them. If your at any top club like arsenal, city whoever, even the youngsters have to be good, a level above hence why they are there. In the past we've always had promising youngsters we've used in the carling cup that would wipe the floor with lower league teams (and have done many times). I think he's pissed off at the fact that none of them showed it tonight.

sorry but the idea that its a competition nobody cares about is a joke - typical of a fa of a club that has just been dumped out of the League Cup. The rag fans used to call it a Mickey Mouse competition - simply because they had never won it. Once they won it then it became second only to the Jules Rimet trophy for a few weeks !!

Does that mean that when your league season fizzles out during the traditional New Year collapse then the PL will become a crap competition nobody cares about?

Id agree with that as a fan, but surely thats the case with all of us?
A team like Le Arse have gone too long without one. The way their business plan runs I wouldn't be surprised if their plan is get out all the cups early and be fit to win the title.
