Arteta’s problem is that he has neither the QUALITY of players needed nor the QUANTITY.

They are fragile, the midfield is technically lightweight, their “stars” are young and unable to carry the team, and there doesn’t look to be any natural leader on the field.

The sight of them going 2 down to Soton and Zinchenko trying organize a huddle smacked of rolled eyes and “What the fuck does he think he’s doing now?” amongst his teammates.

Arteta, too, seems to create tension and pressure, even though he tries hard to project confidence. Too often, his face betrays his words.

There’s no doubting there is the kernel of a real team upon which something could be built, but it is going to need a stronger foundation and some significant strengthening to achieve.

At the moment, they might be thought of as “City Lite,” but that belies the ingrained structure and strength in this team that Arsenal clearly lack.

I agree about Arteta on the touchline. Just like Tuchel he seems to exude panic at times. That said he is still an inexperienced manager and has done well so far. By contrast Pep seems to be at his most agitated when City are playing brilliantly, usually trying to find faults!

Just wanted to say again that Martinelli not getting retrospectively punished for this “challenge” is scandalous.

And the fact the media just ignored it is detestable.

Barely worth a mention, Neville sucked through his teeth and said quietly “ooh that’s bad” as if he was covering up his mike but it’s as if someone shook their head at him or gave him a sign to ignore it because the main commentator remained silent even at the replay.

The team we put out in Europe should have been enough to get through. We didn't play kids, it was all first team players that should have been good enough to go through. We didn't go through because we weren't good enough in the night thats all.

Ironically, that was the night we lost our best defender through injury, and his first replacement as well. So perhaps going as strong did cost is in the league.
