That’s what’s been reported. No idea if true.
Yeah just read up on it. Doesn't make sense. Suspect it's the Kroenkes shithousing our fans when we sign nobody - 'we tried to get Watkins but Villa wouldn't do the deal'.

Or an attempt to unsettle Watkins as he's an Arsenal fan and surely would relish the move.

If Villa are selling Duran, then there was no chance Watkins was going to move.

It may well be grandstanding by your board.

Christ the last 20 mins has been like WW3 - both teams kicking the crap out of each other.

Just seen Sterling missed pen to put game to bed lol
I'm fuming that Odegaard let him take the pen. It was important to win to make sure we had a slightly easier path and that was unprofessional at only 2-1 up.

Nwaneri and Skelly are going to be lit on a Saka level. Nwaneri is better than Saka as a 17 year old. Trajectories can be different, but I can feel it with Nwaneri, I am so invested in the idea we have a Saka regen here.

Nwaneri was unbelievable tonight. It was genuinely like having Saka there except I think if anything Nwaneri is more intelligent - his balls in were causing absolute mayhem and if we'd had our first choice team out tonight we'd have converted some of the crosses. One of his corners was going straight in until Timber blocked it on the line on behalf of Girona lol. Saka tends to try and beat his man over again whereas Nwaneri gets past his man and immediately either shoots or gets a good ball in. The speed at which he executes will take defenders by surprise. His cutting in from the right and hammering vicious screamers in on goal was something I've only really seen regularly from Foden over the past couple of years. You just know the keeper is going to need to save it or a defender block it. And that chance when Girona cleared it and Nwaneri decided to latch onto the clearance on the turn with no bounce and hammer the volley from 40 yards a fraction wide just screams menace - he'll be virtually impossible to completely mark out of a game as he's always going to get a chance as he isn't afraid of taking on a worldie shot if the opportunity is there. It's like he doesn't give a damn - 'screw you guys passing side to side I'm going to hammer a screamer at goal any chance I get'.

Agree, Nwaneri looks like a generational talent and I know people have been talking about Lewis Skelly more but I think whilst L-S will end up being a top wing back I think Nwaneri has the potential to become truly world class. Long way to go of course - he's only 17 and his development may stop, or he may accelerate his progression. I hope he's tied down onto a long contract as Europe's elite will be looking at him for sure.

On a less positive note Raya's injury meant we had Neto in goal and he was absolutely garbage. Really don't fancy him vs City. Also Merino is so slow and cumbersome. Not sure what he adds to us. He was trying to play as if he's Rodri but he's not fit to lace Rodri's boots - I know he's Spain's understudy for Rodri but there's a humongous drop down in level from Rodri there.

Sad to see his fall tbh.

He played really well tonight, just lacked end product but created chances. Like I said earlier it was stupid to let him have the pen - not only that but Rice was whingeing to the ref about something as Sterling was waiting to take it (Rice got booked for it) which only added to the pressure as it delayed the taking of the pen.
