I don't know about anyone else but I really hope Arsenal sign Watkins.

He's 29 years old, They are potentially going to spend the guts of £70m on a player that they'll get 3 years out of. It's a lot of money for a player that's nearly 30.

Yeah I reckon £80m might do it. As it's Arsenal we are talking about I expect him to sign, fire in a load of goals and we get pipped by the Dippers by a point - losing the league due to the fact Watkins scored against us at the Emirates. You read it here first!

Though I don’t think that’s the right analogy in this case.

Unfortunately Villa aren't going to sell both Duran and Watkins absolutely no chance...

If they had any sense they'd sell the 29 year old Watkins for £70m and keep the 21 year old Duran...

Even if they did, it’d be a weird decision to sell your entire strike force 4 days before the transfer window shuts.

Surely £70m for Duran is more than enough for them to pass PSR.

I actually disagree with you on what Villa should do. Duran has scored 12 league goals in 55 appearances (admittedly a lot of the bench, but that’s also when most of the goals have come).

He’s not a £70m striker. He *might* become a £100m striker, but today, he’s not worth £70m.

Watkins on the other hand is their starting striker, has gotten 47 goals and assists in his last 60 PL games going back to the start of last season. He’s the reason they’re in the CL this season, he’ll be the reason they go deep in it this year if they do, and they need him to have a hope of getting back in the top 5 so they get CL money next year.

Sell Duran all day. Especially as they’ve got PSR restrictions. This would get rid of that, allowing them to keep their best XI and let them buy a couple more starting quality players in the summer.
