Nothing distinct about it. An outside chance at this stage and nothing more.
We all know how difficult it is but.....

League title nine points clear, pretty good chance.

Caribo cup against Newcastle, odds on to win

Plymouth away FA CUP, pretty certain to be in the fifth round, then three games from winning the cup, which team(s) do you think they fear?

CL, obvious;y the most difficult but they have as a good a chance as anyone else.

To say an "outside chance" is a bit os a stretch as far as I am concerned.

Was it five or six consecutive League doubles over cheating Arsenal in recent seasons that Drury mentioned on Sunday?

Yep, and that just escalates the feeling. Bar an FA Cup semi final win in 2020, you had won 15 games in a row against us.

Some of those scores, 5-0, 4-1 twice, 3-0 four times, 3-1 three times, I mean most of those 15 games weren't even contests.

So yeah, you can see why an inferiority complex set in.

To any lurking gunners what do you think the problem is with your club and the failure to win trophies? From an outsider perspective I think the over the top intensity created by Arteta is the cause. It can work in your favour in one off games but, over the course of a season, it seems unsustainable.
I would probably say that Arsenal have had a few poor refereeing decisions against them but that probably just reflects the level of shithousing they indulge in. If VVD was a tarquin he would probably have been sent off four times this season for violent conduct but as a dipper just play on and blow smoke up his ass.

I am not Gooner....

They rely on emotion so much and Arteta's character has permeated throughout the squad. His emotional instability, entitlement, arrogance and lack of humility is reflected in the players. Following a loss or a draw, have you ever heard Arteta compliment the opposition team or manager, or at least appeared sporting or magnanimous?

Some of these issues were evident in our match against them. Who does Lewis Skelly think he is mocking Halaand's celebration? It appeared rehearsed or at least planned. To be honest, if a junior City player mocked an Arsenal in such a way, I would find it disrespectful and cringey. We all know Haaland's reason for the meditation celebration. It is not intended to mock or be disrespectful to anyone. If it was, then I could understand it.

Similar characteristics are reflected in at least one of their directors and a large section of the fanbase. I think there is more to the 'stay humble' than many would think.

I found it telling that fans of other clubs and the Newcastle players mocked them about the 'stay humble' thing.

I'll answer. Firstly, as an Arsenal fan what the current team is doing is light years ahead of where we were only 3 years ago. We're likely to be a CL team for the foreseeable, we're no longer a light touch that rolls over in games and the fact we now seem to be universally despised by other fans is actually testament to the fact that we are a bit of a bastard to play against (unless you're Newcastle).

Secondly, no team is entitled to win anything. Just because we're better than a few years ago doesn't mean we have a divine right to trophies. Some Arsenal fans miss this point. For the last 2 seasons we've been pipped to the post by one of the all time great PL teams, one that won a treble. So we have made great progress and losing to that City side is no disgrace. I'd have bitten your hand off to be where we are today if you'd asked me a few years ago.

Finally, the final step to winning trophies. It was clear last season when we returned to the CL that there was some naivety there - we have some catching up to do in Europe. From a domestic perspective we clearly need decent strikers but even that doesn't guarantee anything. Last season, from Feb we basically drew one game (at Anfield), lost at home to Villa and won the rest. Ordinarily that wins the league. The fact is though City just went Defcon and reeled off win after win and sometimes you just have to say 'fair fucks' if a team can do that. I think we got 90 points which wins the league in any pre-City era. So we've been up against a GOAT team.

So to sum up, some tweaks needed, gaining an extra 2% here or there but that still guarantees nothing as we're up against other sides, particularly City and now the Dippers who also are playing at an elite level vs previous title winners. We have some advantages over both those teams and also some disadvantages. I think we can close the quality gap on Liverpool over the summer - a lot depends on what City does. For example next season we could get (as an example) 91 points which would be a record for Arsenal. So the team will be at an all time high level. Doesn't mean we'll win the league though as City are more than capable of beating that, even if I think City may need to go through a transition with the old guard moving on and the new recruits bedding in.

The one thing that always amazed me was the lack of outrage/comment about them trying to destroy the Etihad after the Adebayor knee slide !

That was a sweet moment though !

Mard arses. Thierry Henry performed the same celebration in front of Spurs fans a few years earlier. Arsenal fans lapped it up. They mocked Spurs fans for years about it. When it is done to them, they cannot take it. Adebayor was not mocking Henry though. That celebration did not appear planned. It seemed like pure emotion. Not a surprise when Arsenal fans were aiming chants about elephants and his mother towards him. It would be like showing two fingers to someone and then crying when someone does the same thing in response. They are like whiny children.

LFC look like a different beast under their new Manager. Calm and assured and the total opposite of Klopp. It is up to us to stop them in the FA Cup or the CL if we survive Madrid.

They've been lucky with injuries as well. Last season Salah and VVD were out for a while. Take just Salah out of that side and it's considerably weakened as they can be got at - their midfield isn't all that and they tend to bypass it and go long to Salah. Take that option away and that out ball goes - they can be ground down then.

Thanks for the response. So are you still pro-Arteta despite his over the top intensity and gamesmanship? I think if Pep and Arteta swapped places then Pep would have won the league with Arsenal's squad last season and would not be so far off the dippers this year but the squad is some way off the best teams that Pep and Klopp when they were competing and driving each other to new heights.

Arsenal fans have always made Arsenal hard to like for neutrals. Some of the football played by Wenger's teams was thrilling but the arrogance of things like the Henry/Pires penalty routine against City and the "I didn't see it" reaction to every controversy took away from that.

The collective laughter of neutrals at Arsenal's failure against Newcastle shows how the wider football world views the tactics and mentality Arteta has implemented. I think a big call is needed like City did when they fired Mancini if Arsenal are to take the next step.
