Assisted dying

It is difficult to have a view on this, but all I can say is my bro-in-law passed away a few years ago after suffering from MND for a few years, and he said to my sister a few days before he passed away that he was afraid to sleep in case he never woke up.

To me its not that difficult ..... from what you say your Brother in law would never have requested ...

Many however would like the choice ...

So the latest poll is around 70% in favour 17% not sure and 13% Against.

The MP's should be listening to their constitutients and basing it on what they'd do.

Absolute fuckin travesty if this doesn't sail through.

Depends on the question according to this

I can only say that my Mother would have been only too grateful to have her life ended 12 months earlier.

But I strongly believe that this should be a matter of personal choice. If your religious beliefs dictate that you must suffer months of agony before dying 'naturally' that's fine. Just don't impose it on others. I have seen 'palliative care' and while it's better than nowt, it's no solution. People who think it is are in denial.

Those that are against assume that their families are putting pressure on them.

If that’s the case, how bad is our family system that you would force a member to die to make it easier on themselves.

I can’t believe that a family member would be sat there next the the bed doing such a thing, and that’s where the law comes in.

I’ve been through this too many times, let the individual have a choice.

There was a chap and his wife on bbc breakfast this morning, he needs 24hr care which his wife duly obliges and they are against assisted dying being brought in, why you may ask? On religious grounds mainly, they wouldn't want to use the option. This is the fuckwittery we have to deal with.

I'm not even going to discuss the Tory tosser who claimed type 1 diabetics and aids sufferers would be running to the nearest send me to my maker clinic.

I'd be in favour of assisted dying in cases where all of the following apply:

The disease is terminal (with no realistic prospect of medical breakthroughs that might make it not so)
Pain cannot be controlled to a level that would provide a reasonable quality of life
The patient is able to give clear and verified consent
