Aston Villa (A) | PL | Post-Match Thread

A game like many last season, our minds were on the next match and went through the motions. Didn't get away with it today, but a wake up call for the next couple of games

Motd made it look like villa we're all over us 2nd half , all the talk about the offside , the ref blows his whistle and we stop playing , agree that it wasn't offside but the ref stops play

Frustrating game to watch, partly due to sloppy passing in the first half but mainly due to the ref giving free reign to Villa, Martinez in particula, to waste huge amounts of time as well as nicking 10 - 15 from throw ins and free kicks. How the fuck only six minutes of injury time was played all game is beyond me. Five subs, two goals (it was around 90 seconds to restart after they scored) an injury to Cash which was three and half minutes alone plus the fake injury to Martinez. i reckon Martinez alone wasted around seven or eight minutes in just the second half. Weak ref who let them get away will all sorts. Sooner the game has two half’s of 35 minutes each with independent time keepers as they do in rugby the better and if a game takes two hours to finish then so be it. Pissed off with teams taking the puss and refs doing fuck all.
Taking the puss? That’s a new one on me!

Fair result. A few average performances from us but good to see Haaland score and get two shots on target that MOTD ignored. Cancelo should have done better with their goal.

Seems odd not to give Alvarez a run-out when he's been on fire, but managers like to be perverse sometimes and Pep is no exception.

Cancelo is a poor defender. He just doesn’t respond like a defender to situations like that. However it should have been dealt with well before that by Stones and Rodri who not only gave the ball away but then didn’t try hard enough in my opinion to stop the cross coming in. Goals come too easily against us at times.

It's results like today that remind me why I fucking hate this site and why the vocal minority are such insufferable cunts.

2 points dropped and the amount of shit our players get is unreal.

Just before I log out, I'd like to say fuck you and you don't deserve this club. Dickheads.

Yep, bad day at the office, we move on. We are the team to beat and come May we will all be very happy. I have absolutely no doubt this year :)

Think Rodri is a great player for us but he seems to start the sloppiness in games where we are coasting and Cancelo doesn’t need much persuading to join….although to be fair he was the main one for giving the ball away today.
Just wish Pep would take a chance on Palmer…..he would give us more than an out of sorts Foden or Mahrez.

i hate they have 2 shots all game and its enough for a goal draw against us. when they played the shit Bournemouth away in first round they had 15 shots and scored none.

we somehow need to ask Ederson and the defence to practice having 1 shot on goal at our goal and make sure that not becoming a shot or a goal.

Or make sure we score more of our quintillion chances.

They both have a tendency to dawdle on the ball. We aren't very good at stopping crosses either, particularly on Cancelo's side.

Did the ref blow bang on 4 mins after time, sounded like it.

Makes the Dipper decision mid week even more bent.
You do realise that Villa had an onside goal ruled out? Even against Palace, they had their 3rd goal ruled out incorrectly. But no, we are the only ones in the league being bent over by the refs. Hilarious.

The point is he was onside. If the refs were bent like the poster claims, then they wouldn’t have raised the flag.
I get loads of resistance on the VAR thread trying to suggest that officials don’t make decisions because they are corrupt.

The officials got it wrong tonight. It doesn’t mean a goal would have been scored, but it stopped their chance of doing so incorrectly.
