Aston Villa (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

We didn't bank on Kev picking up any lengthy injury during the first match of the season. On top of that our new signings still need time to fully bed in.

If we can't bed in one of Phillips (over two years) and Kovacic and Nunes in midfield and Gvardiol then the club needs to look at the recruitment imo.

What I mean is injuries and suspensions can happen - but better recruitment wouldn't have left us short.

The recruitment we have done means Pep doesn't trust Phillips, Kovacic or Nunes.

Instead he preferred an only just fit centre back in midfield before them.
This post doesn't make sense, he recruited 2 of them a year them after Phillips, it's clear he's only there to smile on the bench.

Villa weren't too clever vs Bournemouth which is slightly concerning from our perspective. They might not be as productive in their next league game and their winner was down to a deflection.
I've kept quiet about the deflection - no-one listens. This was probably Villa's best performance for forty years. If they can beat Arsenalhole, they could be considered the real deal, but last night's game could be their high point. If they are the real deal, they could do us a few favours.

That was horrendous and we seem stuck in a mini rut at the moment? Pep needs to go back to a standard back 4 and fuck this stepping into midfield shite off now as it’s been worked out and we are getting killed this season when the opposition attack! Only positive was it was only 1-0 but that was truly shocking
We've been unfortunate with injuries and suspensions throughout the team.
It's mean't players have had to play out of position and play more minutes than i'm sure Pep, and anyone, expected.

Walker, Akanji and Dias look knackered and it's showing in their play.
The midfield has all of a sudden become a weak point of the team, we can't seem to stop teams running through us and we've lost a lot of creativity.

We've been trying to plug holes for weeks now.
We need to get players back and reset, but tonight was a game too far

The other two players have played a lot more times than Phillips to be fair to them.

Chelsea , Dippers , Spurs and an improving Villa was always going to be a tough run of games add the injuries and suspensions and there needs some perspective , we have some easier games on the horizon and hopefully Stones , Doku , Rodri and Grealish available for the weekend.
This is a piece of piss compared to York away !!!

The crazy thing is if Villa take points off Arsenal and we beat Luton ( Nowhere near a given at the moment! ) then in spite of this shit run we're right back in the mix.

Pep tries too much magic tricks. Akanji hybrid role. Lewis being retrained as a midfielder after coming through as RB from youth team. Alvarez as an attacking number 8. Gvardiol as an LB after he was star CB for Leipzig for 2 years.
Walker RB as first name on the teamsheet despite his importance was getting lesser and lesser as per last season.

really interested to see the game between Emery and Arteta on saturday, how different it will be tactically, cannot see Villa do to Arteta what Pep allowed them.

still hoping a Villa win, even if that keeps them ahead of us.
Early Pen for Arsenal and red card for Villa incoming,
