Indeed.
Last night beat a 24-year-old record from an athlete subsequently banned for doping.
When we discuss the records of Kratochvilova, or Koch, records that have stood for four decades despite so many improvements in sports-science and training, there has to be a hope that someone will be able to clear them from the record books. We will never prove that those records are tainted, so better to simply replace them and wipe the need for discussion away.

I thought the Georgia Hunter-Bell race was a bit messy, she didn't look happy afterwards despite winning the race.

I've just watched a podcast involving the commentator from last night and the pacers completely messed it up, as Georgia was attempting the European record.

What should have happened was the first pacemaker should have taken them to the 600m mark, and then stepped off the track, and then the second pacemaker should have taken over until the 1000m mark.

The first pacemaker didn't step off the track at 600m the pace slowed, she then stayed in the race 300m longer than she should have, going backwards. The second pacemaker was boxed in and couldn't get to the front, so stepped off the track almost a full lap before she should have. A bit of a shame for Georgia's record attempt.

I've just watched the race again but kept a close eye on the two pacemakers and it was all a bit of a shambles.
 
The World Indoor Championships start tomorrow. Friday until Sunday, all three morning and evening sessions are on BBC2 and on the iPlayer live. Keely runs tomorrow morning in the heat's, as does Azu the defending champion in the men's 60m. GHB run's in the 1500m heat's tomorrow evening, and the men's 60m final is the last action on day 1.

Unfortunately I suspect you may be right, the first two were both wearing the new Adidas pro Evo 3, Sebastian sawe has been on an upwards curve for a while and definitely not juicing, but yep it does point towards the shoes giving the extra edge, especially with it being London in those conditions, London is not known for being a quick course

Anticipate we'll see shoe regulations brought in very soon as the tech gets more and more over the top and all records go. Only way of legitimising achievements.

Well, let’s see how performances in general in elite marathons go over the next 12 months … be interesting to see what the trends look like.
