Atletico (H) | CL QF 1st Leg | Post Match Thread

Thought we were really good tonight.

Atletico were always going to be tough to break down, the crucial thing was that we kept control of the overall play and didn't allow ourselves to get countered on. I can't think of anything Atletico actually did going forward, apart from that really short spell at the start of the second half when Griezmann had a run and Gundogan managed to get back. Apart from that I thought we were just calm, patient, and got the win we deserved.

Playing against these, it's always gonna descend into a game of sitting and waiting to see who cracks first. We held our nerve, made the right changes, and were incisive when it mattered. A second goal would have been a nice cushion but any win against these gives us something to protect. They're going to pull out all the shithousing stops back at theirs so it's better to face that kind of environment and gameplan with something to hold on to.

This was back in the group stages. We need to brace ourselves for something 10x worse next week.

Joao Felix looks more like a young Aguero than a young Aguero did at the same age

When Atletico get the ball they go for the throat. Yes they are horrid to play against. They have foul tactics and are anti football without the ball but when they get hold of it they make things happen and they dont mess about. City can learn something from them. I hope we destroy them next week with an attacking display of on the grass, flying down the wings, one touch, quick forward passing and clinical finishing football.

Read the question carefully dude, I said I wouldn’t risk him on Sunday against probably the best counter attacking team in Europe because he gives the ball away too often.

You haven’t offered an opinion for me to disagree with or even constructively explained your thoughts on why you disagree with me just shouted out a load of expletives
Have I heard you correctly? We have one of the most creative (and goalscoring) players that most clubs would love to see not playing against them (and would rip your arm off to have that same player in their first eleven), yet you think he would be some kind of liability against Liverpool? Just when I thought I'd heard all of the most insane comments ever made, someone decides to raise the bar.

I ain't seen that from them. They may have had a couple of decent performances all season. The rest they should beat. Also they have had some shite results.
