Atletico supposedly after Negredo.....

Alvaro Negredo ready to quit Man City... and is eyeing Spain return with Atletico Madrid
ATLETICO MADRID are preparing to step up their pursuit of Manchester City's Alvaro Negredo after the forward made it clear he wants to quit the Etihad Stadium this summer.

Atletico, as exclusively revealed by Starsport, have identified the City hitman as the perfect candidate to fill the void left by the departing Diego Costa, who will complete his switch to Chelsea next week.

According to reports, Negredo is keen to return to his native Spain after only one season in England with City.

Atletico are willing to splash out up to £20m to land the 28-year-old, who is also attracting interest from Tottenham.

The Premier League champions have made no indication that they are willing to sanction the departure of Negredo, although their ability to compete in the transfer market this summer may be based around player sales.

City, along with French champions PSG, were fined a whopping £49m in May for breaching Financial Fair Play rules.

And as a result City will only be able to spend a maximum of £49m during the summer, but further funds can be generated through player sales.

Having already added £12m Porto midfielder Fernando to his ranks, City boss Manuel Pellegrini could be tempted to part with Negredo in an attempt to balance the books.

Negredo joined City last summer from Sevilla in a deal worth around £20m, but, after a blistering opening six months, his form dipped severely towards the end of the season.

Pellegrini, who has also signed Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna on a free transfer, is hoping to convince Porto centre-back Eliaquim Mangala to join the club.

City have agreed a £32m fee with the Portuguese giants, but Mangala is understood to favour a move to London with Chelsea also interested.

I would have expected him to be saying via his agent how much he likes it at City etc by now, I think Alf is hoping for a change of scenery

I think if there's an offer from At Madrid then it's an exceptional circumstance. If they end up signing Mandzukic then I suspect that Negredo will go back to being happy at City very quickly.

The Beast is not unhappy at City but his family have found it difficult to settle, that is why he is interested in a move., no other agenda.

Negredo wants to go back to Spain and they include the lie that Spurs are interested .......have Spurs now moved to Benidorm ?

There are also reports that Atletico have turned down the chance to sign Lukaku on loan so there may be legs in this one

So much talk in Spain about the Beast being unsettled/wanting to leave #mcfc - they can't all be wrong. Difficult one for city.

He's probably right. If so all we can do is try and get the best price and hope we can replace him given out restrictions.
