We don't deserve this team. We really don't. It's like 35000 Barry Manilow fans watching the best team we're ever going to see.The Colin Bell and the East stand look like they could not give a fuck.
To quote Blur. When the days, they seem to fall through you. Well, just let them go.

Completely wrong. I went to see Barry a few years ago at the Arena. It was much louder than the Etihad today.

I’m guessing there were 40,000 old school blues there today. Most couldn’t give a shit. Once again, when the twelfth man was needed he didn’t show up. Shame as it might have made the difference, the same as Tottenham and Liverpool.

No doubt the silent fans on here will blame the tourists.

100% Cheadle.

Soriano & Co have slowly but surely replaced the local legacy fans with corporate, tourists and day trippers.
Bullshit, you could still buy a ticket today, and if you're a season ticket holder and you gave it up tough shit, this excuse about tourists and day trippers is absolute bollocks, its the City fans in the stadium (local, die hards, legacy fans whatever you want to call them) who sit there like fucking statues, no singing fuck all, that's a lot of City fans...absolute apathy...

Completely true. Silent and lazy unless we get three nil up. Pathetic

People calling out the atmosphere saying its day trippers etc, and the REAL fans can't get a ticket...bullshit they CAN and from where I stand 119, half the 'city' fans don't give a shit, so all this crap about tourists affecting the atmosphere is fucking nonsense !!!

wife: how’d the game go?

City fan: I dunno

Wife: What you mean you dunno

City fan: well I left on 82 mins we were 2-1 up not sure how it finished

Wife: why’d you do that? Why buy a ticket and look forward to it all week and then not stay to the end especially with the game in the balance

City fan: Eh I dunno, beat the traffic I suppose

Cue the fan who comes from outer Mongolia seeing his arse:-)

Who the f*ck has started turning their phone torches on , there were a few at the Palace game shining thier f*cking phones in the 2nd half , even the Palace fans sung "what the fucking hell is that" , whoever was doing it your an absolute wanker , your not at a Robbie Williams concert singing Angels , its a fucking football match so jack it in.
Our support takes enough shit and shining f*cking phones is just giving them more ammunition , if you wanna act like your at a pop concert buy a ticket for one, not a football match, tossers.
If anyone is in the vicinity of these sad bastards tell them to stop it.
Better than sat there arms folded, no singing, no shouting...???

Fans from different parts of the ground are blaming each other or other 'types' of fans. It's a defensive reaction.

The atmosphere is shit because not enough can be arsed singing. We have good vocal away support but the home support vocally is shit. Has been for a while.

I feel like that with all the corporate/ hospitality sections. Most city fans, including myself can’t afford to sit in those areas - maybe as a one off treat. I get it’s a part of football.

From my seat I can see the tunnel club and it feels so out place to me and so at odds with what the core of our fan base and club is about. The club have become obsessed with chasing that market now. Again I understand the reasons why.

My fear is the north stand expansion is basically being done for corporates and it could make the atmosphere worse. Funny thing is, if everything turns south the club will want those legacy fans back.
Where do you start with this post...fucking HELL !!

Reminds me of the Liverpool game this season. 1-1 with 10 minutes to go. Absolute thousands rushing for the exits.

It’s 2.30 on a Saturday FFS! Where in God’s green earth do you need to be by 3.30?

Spot on mate and we still get people blaming tourists...fucking embarrassing

Why can’t it be both? I agree long standing fans aren’t singing and large parts of the ground are like a morgue because of that.

I also think increasing numbers of tourists, day trippers, corporates and casuals is having an effect as well. Having away fans celebrating in the home end or large numbers of people who don’t know any of the chants affects noise levels. The club have priced out a lot of people who might make a bit of noise (younger adults) from attending with expensive match day tickets. £51 against palace!

It’s a combination of a lot of different factors

I agree that a lot of people around the ground can't be arsed, but it's still up to the singing sections to lead by example.

As someone who sits in 232, I can tell you that when a chant is sung clearly and loudly by the south stand, most people join along with the song.

The problem is that the songs are never sung loudly and clearly as we have 3 different singing sections each only consisting of about 500 people.

From where I sit it's a distant hum of noise, and completely impossible to join in with.

It's a lose lose, because you can't hear the singing sections and if you try to start your own chants you'll just be adding to an already convoluted mess of noise.

In conclusion the club need to absolutely put atmosphere first with this new north stand, as I truly believe that a single more vocal singing section will also allow more people to join in around the ground.

Posted at 7:18pm last night by me. I didn't specifically mention tourists and day trippers.

Replying.

No it wasn't until the Palace equaliser. Then everyone fucked off. At least SSL1 stayed and carried on singing up to that point.. Where were the other 3 stands, sat in silence and doing a fucking fire drill. I saw it with my own eyes.

You're absolutely correct. City fans could have bought a ticket yesterday as long as they had a 'Citizens membership card (Adult 18+ · £25 ; Matchday Membership. Adult 18+ · £35 ; Junior Membership. Junior Pack 0-12 · £20) and were prepared to pay £51-£68 for the privilege of watching City play Crystal Palace. Obviously a lot of City fans weren't prepared to pay that.

I’ve been working away so not been to many this season but I don’t know what the fuck has happened but what I do know it’s nothing to do with tourists etc it’s on us to make the atmosphere and it’s just a pathetic get out to blame anyone but ourselves hopefully it improves from now until end of season
