Atmosphere 2024/25

It’s time the tickets went to ballot for away games, before I get my head bit off, I have supported the blues since 1973/74 season and only not had a season ticket for 6 of those years. I have just below the 8000point mark. I am a member of all the cup schemes and OSC, if I want a ticket for most pl away games my only source is a ticket tout, same for my boys aged 20 & 14.
I know lots of people who always get a ticket for away games cos they are top of the pile, then pass them onto mates. It’s not just about City selling to tourists.
Can’t see any other way to be fair to all our supporters
The best way for me to get a ticket is…

Mate, fucking shithouses who started.

I don't know if the video has been shared on here, I really can't be arsed to look, but two of MY mates, absolute TOP lads who've been going for decades home/away/Europe, father & son, travelled on the Baguley & Brooklands bus got set upon by so-called Blues accusing them of being tourists because they decided enough was enough at 4-1 down.

Pissed off a lot of the wrong people this has.

(and if any of the culprits post on here feel free to PM me)

Dickheads.
I hope your mates are OK. I think it's time that people who throw around the label "tourists" at the drop of a hat. take a minute to understand the damage they are doing. Yes we can picture an archetypal tourist taking pictures / videos with a tablet (and the groups of 8 at Anfield and Ipswich) but a lot of this broader "tourist" labelling is pathetic. These thugs should keep their politics away from our beloved City.

the Newcastle atmosphere last night was something else. That’s the type of atmosphere/fanbase our players and manager has deserved over the last 8 years.

And on the whole they haven’t had it.

Nothing to do Tourists, just the majority of legacy fans who are lazy until we are three up.

No wonder Pep has a go from time to time. He must be absolutely baffled at our indifferent support.

Agree that it sounded mega last night, but in the interests of balance, St James’ Park is a morgue for large portions of most of their matches.

Like most PL grounds.

Absolutely, was a library when we went there this season.

I've got a few geordie mates, and they all have the exact same conversations about atmosphere as we do.

I'm sure the Etihad will be just as electric when we play Madrid and Liverpool this month

A club that hasn't won a domestic trophy in 70 years, in the home second leg of a semi-final. Let's be realistic about the athmospheres we could/should try to match on a weekly basis.

I agree, but they don’t really have anything to celebrate do they

Most non city fans will tell you our atmosphere is the worst from every big team in the country. City fans say it’s because of huge amount of “tourists” or local fans being “priced out of games” , like how? when most of the other top teams have more “tourist” fans than we do, and secondly the bigger point when it comes to local fans being priced out so that’s why it’s quiet at the etihad, the Madrid game in 2023 was maybe the most expensive ticket I’ve seen for a European game, but that was literally the best atmosphere we’ve ever had. The truth is, the lack of atmosphere at the ground, is not ONLY about the prices, or the out of town fans, its the lack of passion for City by a big majority of our fans, compared to the passion that Liverpool or Newcastle fans have for their club. For them it’s life or death, they’re crazy for their team, for a lot of City fans in the stadium, we don’t really have that type obsession. (Of course we have INCREDIBLE away fans that are mad for it). I remember last season, the last 10 games of the season were average, we were literally still on for a second treble, and atmosphere was poor except the west game game on last day. Sadly, it’s the culture of the club, some City fans were happier to hear Oasis are back together, than for us to win more trophies

Absolute bollocks, people once again falling into the trap of believing the things they read on twatter, which is 99% non match going fans.

Nearly all match going fans agree that atmospheres have got worse across the league, and ours is no different from anyone else's.

Agree with that. I know lack of atmosphere is at all clubs but we’ve had our most successful period in our history and the majority of fans that sit near me, 315, rarely support the team.

Not tourists, most are Maine Road veterans. From the days when we would have given our right arms to win the FA Cup!

Yes, it has gone worse, but ours is the one that gets made fun of the most by opposition fans. The thing is I expect United or Spurs etc grounds to be quiet, they’re shit now, and have been for years, so they literally have nothing to celebrate, we’re winning trophy after trophy for over 10 years and it’s still the definitely the worst stadium for atmosphere. Way worse than Spurs, United, Liverpool, even Arsenal. There’s no excuse for that.

Be honest with me, how many games do you get to a season?

i see the phrase legacy fans bandied around from time to time.

i find the phrase legacy fans to be quite insulting.

it's as if the take over brought in a newer and better sort of fan.

as if fans from before the take over just need to be "put up with", whereas in fact those are the most real of all our fans

"legacy fans" have city in their blood regardless of silverware or success.
"legacy fans" would still be City fans if we were relegated to the conference.

if there is a problem, and i don't believe there is, it is with all the new plastic fans.
