There is a lot of funding believed to be coming from Qatar and Saudi Arabia our two biggest allies (pretty much) in the region. But besides the fact that you're ignoring all the attacks foiled, what of all the repercussions that our society suffers as a consequence of this threat, and government attempts to address it, that can't be measured in numbers of deaths or a risk of fatality from a terrorist attack on a day to day basis?

The very fear of the threat is a consequence that cannot be overlooked either. Hence 'terrorism'.

We live in a security obsessed country now, and that's because of said threat.

How have increased security measures or electronic snooping affected you? Honest question as I can't think of any ways.

And are you genuinely fearful of terrorist attacks now? Any more than you have ever been? The north west and certainly Manchester is no stranger to terrorist attacks in the past.

I don't let terrorists claim ownership of my thoughts or fears ever. That's not because I think I'm triple hard. It's because I have a far greater chance of drowning in my own bath or slipping and falling in my shower.

No I didn't. I said they pose a threat to our way of life.

One example:

Just to illustrate how much this ideology and terrorism is effecting our societies. Look at the response to the Charlie Hebdo massacre.

The debate about our very right to free speech and freedom of the press was quickly hijacked and became a discussion on sensitivity towards Islam and the right of Muslims not to be offended.

French satirical cartoonists were murdered because they drew a cartoon. That should've been the end of the moral analysis.

Instead, it became yet another discussion about how terribly discriminatory our society is, again, how it is our society that is more or less at fault. How the cartoons were 'provocative'.

None of the British newspapers ran with the satirical cover cartoon of Muhammad to show solidarity. Sky News even cut a French journalist live off air when she held aloft the cover of Charlie Hedbo when she was discussing the attacks.

Our society's response was one of great grief and horror at the attacks, but an unwillingness to stand up for the very freedoms we hold dear.

Instead, the right not to be offended won out, as did the fear of violence. Violent religious bigots sought to impose their religious blasphemy laws over our liberty valuing free societies, and we more or less gave them what they wanted out of cowardice.

I repeat: this ideology poses a threat to our way of life.

These are the very hard problems we have to deal with if we want to dissolve this evil. The problem is every time we get involved to remove an evil regime we end up with a worse one. Be fucked if I know the answer, our biggest friends in the area fund our greatest enemies. Our greatest enemies often repressed the extremists and money and oil seem to excuse all ills. The whole thing is fucked and it is going to take a very very long time and a shit old of hard work, money and force to deal with it.

We will defeat ISIS soon enough as we did Al Qaeda but what comes next?
