When City have a good lead at home then the last 10-15 minutes they 'declare' and stop trying to score another - probably to reduce the chance of injury. Keep ball is played from that point in and City will only attempt to score if the opposition don't accept City's 'declaration' and tries to get a consolation. If the opposition do concede - all you will see is pass/pass/pass with no end product from that point to the end of the game. I have no problem with this. Equally I have no problem in accepting fans leaving at this point as the game is affectively over - especially as GM Plods traffic control in the surrounding area is woeful and getting away early saves punters 1/2 an hour queuing in traffic.

Perhaps if City didn't "Declare" then it would be worthwhile staying.

I agree, the last 10 mins of games like saturday's can be an anti climax.

I dont usually leave the stadium, but I often leave my seat, slowly make my way to the back of the stand (sometimes sitting for a while in a seat nearer the back of the stand that someone else has vacated). Then, during breaks in play, I'll move from block to block, so that I'm near the exit when the final whistle goes.

I usually find that I can move from block to block without missing any play. It takes ages to restart the game if the ball goes out for a throw in when they're winding the cloick down.

I dont leave my seat if there's only a goal in it. And I always wait for a break in play before I start to move, if possible wait for the obligatory time wasting substitution so to everyone is stood up.

I'll stay to clap the players off if its been a notable win, when the players genuinely want to celebrate with the fans eg like at West Brom. But I'm not interested in the ritual, mutual clapfest. I'm not usually bothered whether the players clap me so dont feel that I always need to clap them.

I have to agree no other clubs in the PL have such a mass exodus on the scale we see, i just find it all a bit odd and can't get my head around it.

And you know this how ?

Using your eyes when watching other teams when they're on or you're there at other ground when watching g City away.

There was a game earlier this season that made me start looking of for it; Sunderland were 1-3 up at Fulham after 70mins and the game was over, yet the stadium was still almost full in injuriy time which was about 5mins. It surprised me. When games are on it's something I notice now and we are by far the worst for leaving early.

Just a thought but vitually all the crowd seemed to stay to the end for the games against Watford and Leeds, more left before the end against Barnsley but still nothing compared to yesterday and other league games. So it appears that the ocassional fan and the so called day trippers stay to the end unlike the s-t holders for whatever reason.

That's true.

Swamp-dwellers started leaving in their droves after the third last season, and even faster after the fourth, fifth and sixth (ref: the French lad's video).

Whereas, only a few left after their third in the FA Cup at Etihad last January and the stadium was still pretty full at the end, IIRC.

There is definitely trouble a brewin because in 123 on Saturday insults were hurled at those leaving early so maybe expect a few fisticuffs in the future if this escalates.
Where we sit it is always the same people, or folks with loads of city store bags, make of that what u will.
I think that this is increasing tho cos I don't remember this happening this bad when we first came to this stadium?

Lunatic conclusions drawn about City fans leaving earlier than other supporters based on 1 or 2 games they noticed this at and the old fallback " i saw it on the telly"

It's always happened and it always will and it always happens in direct proportion to what is at stake in that particular game and the likelihood of a result changing goal in that game.

So you haven't spotted an increasing tendency of fans to leave games early, you've just (as earlier posters have said) found a way to justify to yourself your belief that only you and those with identical behaviour patterns are "real" or "true" (or whatever bullshit adjective you choose) City fans.
