Away tickets

Looks like there are quite a few ‘points whores’ on this thread reading the last few pages!

I think removing the away points will have the desired effect, and help bring the number of points needed for a lot of aways down by quite a lot. But there has to be a deterrent to go along with this and other than random spot checks on tickets I’m not sure what else they could do?

I went to Celtic when we all had to collect the tickets and it was a joke, queuing in the rain for ages only to be met with arsehole security guys. If this collection thing is anything like that it won’t last long. Hopefully they have come up with a better solution for a smaller number of tickets.

Any changes like this will piss people off, people don’t like change, but at the end of the day no one should be any worse off other than those who allowed people to use their tickets to get points. This should mean that those at away matches are eligible to go and not benefiting from someone else’s points.

bit of a sweeping generalization. i know loads of city fans who are 20-25 years old who dont go away games that have been city fans for years and go to every single home match. I'm 25 and started going when joe royle was the managers - not exactly a glory hunter. no that long ago pearce was the manager.

'why should those whose parents have forked out thousands to help then be shafted' how is that fair??? just because they can afford it. what about the thousands of teenagers across manchester who arent that lucky and don't have parents who are loaded? should they not go to games.....ridiculous point.

what i get from your post is apparently your only a city fan if you have away points and your lucky enough to get tickets bought for you by mum and dad. unless I've misread your post ?

Exactly people who are 25 have plenty of chance to build up points like you, but the 18-25 system shafts them by raising the bar overall.

Those attending and building up points deserve them, it takes the most conscious effort and isn't down to luck. The highlighted bit was due to fans saying it was impossible for someone who is 21 to have 18k points, but it is exactly those on 18 to 20k who will now not be able to get ticket son merit.

I think you will find that the majority on here, who you class as points whores are there week in week out
Are you ? and how will it benefit you if you don't have circa 18000 points now

What a load of fucking bullshit that is, influenced by a few city matters clowns who have had their own agenda to suit personal needs.

If that was to me, then yes there for all home games and most aways.

It will benefit as people who let others use their cards for aways won’t be able to anymore. Meaning the points required could drop by thousands for most games. Granted not the derby, Liverpool etc. but they’d have no chance there anyway.

Then can still accrue points by attending every home game. As I understand it, points will be given when the ticket is used at a home game not just when it’s purchased, so the empty seats at home might even start to disappear.

There is no doubt at all that a lot of tickets for away games go to people who use others cards, it’s a fact. This should stop that.

Who are the points whores on here? Name names or don't make unfounded and offensive claims.

It will bring the points required for aways down because many often fans who did midweek games will be able to miss the odd one now without dropping down the pecking order. I wonder if the 18-25s and the 'Anfield' wanagoes will pick up the slack.

Change for changes sake is bollocks. And change that makes things worse for the vast majority of our away support is just wrong.

I know 4 mates, all mid pointers, who were at West Ham last year, who will miss out now unless it goes below the 18000 lower limit specified in the current criteria. So there's a few people who will be worse off.

Is that true?

For the FAC Final i got my ticket plus my two kids all of us on the cup scheme seats together.
Is this still going to be possible.

Is there any provision for 16-18 year olds getting tickets.

Are they really going to penalise corporates who pay 3 grand a year for home tickets so they can get away tickets to sell online for hundreds? I think not

I’d be more accepting of the changes if they were alongside other changes but it’s clear the city matters representatives were looking after their own interests given there’s seemigly zero changes to supporters club allocations. Piss poor from them they’ve shat all over the ordinary fan here.

So the guys who have been doing it by the book get their allocation reduced and have the inconvenience of collecting from the ground. That may sound like a minor inconvenience on the face of it but I usually travel with people on coaches who get us to the ground with barely any time before kick off, which means if I’m chosen I’m missing a decent part of the game just to get my ticket. Then I’m guessing I’ll have to have ID on me, I make a habit of not taking anything that isn’t essential for an away day as it’s very easy to lose things or have them stolen but now I’m potentially going to have to take my passport/seasoncard or whatever they decide is adequate ID, and if I do lose that not only have I lost it, I’m not getting in? I’m somebody who checks double checks and triple checks everything, I feel uneasy not having my ticket on me, not having my ticket until I’m at the ground is going to raise some anxiety issues which is going to spoil the day for me until it got my ticket in my hand. I understand that’s a fairly niche issue on my part but it’s just another kick in the teeth for me as somebody who gets my tickets “legitimately” whilst I see others who have mates running supporters clubs waltzing through without having to jump through these hoops.

Ultimately, the changes aren’t inherently bad, it’s just that it’s one specific group of fans that have been targeted and it happens to be the one group who are abusing the system the least whilst others who pay more or have friends in high places are being allowed to freely abuse the system.
spot on this, I can understand (somewhat) the other aspects but introducing collection, however small and random, is very poorly thought out
