I don't get the rage at the fee

If we can't get a buyer for £40mil than we aren't gonna get £40mil

And if someone did bid that but Laporte didn't wanna go, I.e. to a West Ham who are clearly beneath him, then what do we do? Keep him as back up to Dias, Stones, Ake, Gvardiol, Walker and Akanji?

It's money in the pot for someone not in the first team picture and wages off the books.

Yep, pretty much. He stays if there are no buyers at the right amount.

That's not what I would want to see btw, it is just what the club does.

But I still refuse to believe, for now, that the undisclosed fee is as low as the guessed less than 30m. Just because some @juankerr or whichever other rando tweets it, doesn't mean it is true.
 
Last night showed that all of our defenders are mortal. Laporte is as good as most if not all. Happy that he's not going to a competitor even if it means making less on the transfer fee.

WHU, Spurs, Villa, Juve, Bilbao & Saudi i think are the ones that have been at his door.

Remains to be seen where he goes.
