Ballotelli appeal (Merged)

Re: Ballotelli appeal?

At the very worst it was a yellow and even that would have been harsh, that said two yellows = a red (unless Poll was the ref). However a straight red was plain ridiculous but the ref won't come out and say he got it wrong!

Re: Ballotelli appeal?

How can it be deemed frivolous when the vast majority admit it wasn't a straight red?

My view on it is that there is enough doubt in the video to prevent it from being deemed frivolous but not enough to make the FA overturn the referee's decision.

I didn't think they could downgrade it to a yellow card, but if this is possible then I reckon it's the best we can hope for. They'll most likely stick with the 3-game ban though. I'd be gobsmacked if they threw it out completely.

Re: Ballotelli appeal?

We are Manchester City, it's Mario Balotelli, David Gill's on the FA and we play the rags next. DO NOT APPEAL. Why would we want to make it 4 games instead 3?

Hi guys... good win for your lot yesterday.... looking forward to my lot having 4 of our next 5 games at home, Defoe back possibly tomorrow night along with VDV, Lennon, Corluka.... and King and Dawson in 2 weeks....

Anyway, the FA are a client of mine and I know a lot of people there.... just had message as I asked them if there was any chance that Thud will get done for his petulant kick out at Elmander on Saturday...apparently the ref saw it and did not deem it necessary to take action, so unless the FA request he look at it again, it is case closed on that one.....

On the Balotelli incident.... there are a number of factors involved....

Firstly the ref has to admit he made an error, the red won't just be rescinded it will be downgraded to a yellow, he already had a yellow so he would have been off anyway with a one game ban (Wednesday night).... City have until 5pm today to appeal, the appeal will be heard and dealt with tomorrow... so whatever way you look at it he will not be available on Wednesday.... Lastly, and possibly most importantly, if the referee decides he got it right, the disciplinary committee may also decide that the appeal is frivolous.... if that is the case the ban could be extended to 4 matches......

So the City management team have to decide to either accept the ban (and Dermot Gallagher has just said on SSN that it won't get overturned in his opinion)... or risk losing him for 4 games.....

FA Rules say Tuesday to appeal, they can't just cut the period for appeal to suit.

Which is what the rags did last season so camel gob could play against us

Re: Ballotelli appeal?

OK,to sum up:

The club have until 1.00pm today to make a "Claim" for "Wrongful Dismissal" - it is not yet confirmed that they have done so. They cannot "ask for more time to prepare their case".

If they do so, the FA will convene a panel as soon as possible, i.e. tomorrow. If they cannot convene a panel by tomorrow, then it will probably be Thursday and Mario wiil be free to play on Wednesday.

The panel will consider documentary and video evidence only (Referee's report, club submissions etc.). Their are no personal presentations from the player, club, refrees or any other witness. The ref does NOT have to admit he made a mistake, and Andy Gray's views are of no consequence!

If the panel find the Claim successful, the suspension is not imposed. The Red card stays on the record, there is no power to "reduce it to a Yellow".

If the panel find the Claim unsuccessful, the suspension is imposed, and the opanel go on to comsider if the claim was "frivolous". If the so find, the suspension may be inceased up to double the number of games.

The vast majority of City fans, perhaps. We should not appeal. Instead we should play Tevez and Silva upfront with Adebayor and AJ coming off the bench in the unlikely event that we fail to score. With the confidence of a win under our belts, we should be able to beat those rags without Mario. It gives him another few weeks to regain his full fitness too.
