You can't downgrade a card once its issued, you can only have it completely recinded. We can't claim the red should have been a yellow, we have to prove it wasn't worthy of any card at all. Now it's clear to see a yellow was probably justifiable so we'd never win an outright appeal against the card, by agreeing to the red and a 1 match ban we CAN appeal the length or the sentence, it's a slight manipulation of the rules but it does give the FA a chance to reduce the sentence without reducing the card. Having said that I'd be surprised if this worked.
Like you said a red can't be changed to a yellow so we don't have to prove that it wasnt worth any card all city have to do is prove that it didn't merit a red, we can stand up and argue that it was a yellow card get the red recinded and he plays on Wednesday without any further punishment as the f.a. cant do anything retrospectively as the referee saw the incident and dealt with it at the time all be it wrongly. There seems to be some confusion as to what the club are appealing but I think they should appeal the whole thing as this is one I really believe we can win
What you've said makes perfect sense. Unfortunately sense and the FA don't mix and your original sentence is incorrect. BECAUSE you can't downgrade a card you have to prove a red card wasn't even worthy of a booking, otherwise it stands. If we prove that the red card should actually have been a yellow then the FA's stance is "Ok, so he should have been booked and not sent off, unfortunately we don't have the facility to change the red card to a yellow, and we're not willing to allow a player to escape any punishment for an incident which has been agreed to be worthy of some level of punishment so the red card has to stand". If we prove it wasn't a foul, or violent conduct at all, say we prove he was simply trying to free his leg from the players grasp, then no infringement took place so the red card can be completely recinded. Only in the second scenario will the red card be removed.

What a bloody joke, no way was that a sending off, and the appeal gets dismissed.

Did they even look at the replays? Jokers the lot of them.

kocieleny will serve 2 match ban and balo will serve 3 match ban, why is that?

Koscielny's was 2 yellows so should be one match ban, however it's his second red this season so gets an extra game on top

Come on guys!

Did we really expect anything else???

Nope but its a farce and i do think its time for City to get stronger when dealing with the FA. We seem to take anything they throw at us so are seen as an easy target. Id like to see someone at a high level of City ask the FA for an explanation on why Huddlestone has no ban and yet we have this.

Its getting beyond a joke now with Neville avoiding a red, Huddlestone getting away with an assualt for the 2nd time in 2 months etc

Didn't expect anything else really..........Good Job we have a quality squad now so wont effect us that much............
