Balotelli - What was he thinking?

Could fit in

OOh Balotelli he's a striker, he' shit at back heels.
he tried to Pirouette but he missed the fuin net...etc etc

Only Mario knows why he did it.
Having watched it again, maybe there was a whistle. However the reaction of Dzeko (who was stood next to him) and the other players nearby doesn't tie in with the whistle theory. Otherwise why the puzzled expressions of "why the fuck did you just do that" from his team mates?

If he did think he was offside, why did he kick the ball away anyway? I've seen players booked and sent off (2nd yellows) for less in Europe.

Great talent, but he's got to start screwing the nut.

Micah was whistled offside, knew it, and almost castrated the opposing keeper he kicked the ball so hard.

Get ready for the ''Balotelli to Milan'' headlines...pure gold for Harry Harris & Co.

I'm sure this is not the first time this has been said, but how would everyone have felt had the backheel gone in?

When it really has mattered like in the FA Cup final we saw Mario the man he was man of the match and rightly so. Thats the Mario Mancini wants tonight was one of them he knew it was a friendly and ok hopefully once he's calm he will see it was a little bit daft

Mancini: “I hope this is a lesson for him. In football you always need to be professional, always serious, and he wasn’t."

Absolutely.

For people criticizing Mancini, what about Mario's own teammates who were upset by this? Are they all wrong?

To be a champion, everyone must be on the same page. There can be no divisions. We have to be cohesive, and doing something like that just brings more arguments within the first team and more media distractions.

Mario put Mancini in a bad position. If he hadn't taken him out, the headlines would read that Mancini had lost control, bent to the will of the player, etc. You can say that you don't care about the media, but it's unwanted attention that can't possibly help us.

He needs to grow up and understand how the real world works, and also that Mancini has enough grey hairs trying to keep his job without Mario adding to them. This could have been a day of joy as we destroy Beckham FC and shove crow down his lying throat. Instead we're talking about this.

This has nothing to do with whether a friendly has meaning or not; these friendlies are about building team unity and cohesion. Mario should ask himself one question: did he do it for himself or the team?

This 100%. No room for clowns if you want to be the best team in the world. Friendly or Champions League final need to be prosfessional throughout.[/quote]

Thing is, there is currently a striker shortage at the club and Mancini is trying to look the best combinations for the upcoming season. These pre-season games are extremely important for the manager and coaches to see if it will work, or if they need to buy big etc.... Balotelli should be grabbing the opportunity with both hands, but he clearly has issues with his self control or maybe he just doesn't care? Throwing his shirt on the floor will never please city fans.
