Just an idea but if you were about to throw £30,000,000 (I used all the zeroes so that people might realise just how much money it is and stop acting like it's monopoly money) at a player. Wouldn't you wait until after he has played in a international? Just for that small chance god forbid he might get a season ending injury. The sheik may be rich but he's not stupid. Same goes for Milner.

My theory as well, why spend circa 50mil on 2 players just prior to them playing for their countries, hence we wait until Weds/Thurs.
Makes perfect sense to me.

Good players always have to go off to play for their countries and you always take the risk that they come back damaged. It's a fact of life. You can't legislate for it or you'd never sign anyone.
More worrying would be that there's still 3 weeks of transfer window left and if he looks like the wonder kid everyone is suggesting, there's a strong chance of other clubs entering the fray.

1) becuase of balotellis reputation
2) becuase we have the mancini factor.

I have no doubt in my my mind this is already sorted with contracts signed, the lot! Why delay it...? I don't know but I don't think there is any reason to worry about other teams. Don't forget all sides were very vocal until last Monday (when talks were supposed to continue), then all of a sudden silence other than the agent to rubbish the amounts being talked about and the player last night refuting the story about his birth parents.
