Absolutely right he should only be picked based on performances. As already mentioned he himself said he was shite last year ( who are we to disagree?) and today,arguably the first match of the season that matters at all, imo he was worse than that.
Will he play in the first game v Swansea? Probably yes so let's hope he performs.

I compare Balotelli to Andy Carroll who is 18 months older. He's another one who's a complete dick off the pitch and probably has a drinking problem but you know what you're going to get from him on the pitch - total commitment.
We're really not seeing that from Mario and he has to start stepping up this season.

can anyone please point me in the direction of anything he has done with us that deserves that tag.
