Balotelli

Mancini's stubborness can be seen in various facets of his management, Balotelli is just one example.

Any player who aligns themselves just to a manager, no good can ever come of it.

We have seen it with some of Hughes' purchases and how they have hurt us.

This is what put a divide in the squad when Balo first arrived on the scene.

He was given loose reigns and special treatment which didn't go down too well with other members of the squad, especially those who got punished for things Balo was getting away with.

Genuine question...

Who has been punished for something that Balo has gotten away with?

Most of the things have been said.

I did notice on Saturday though, he gets pushed in the face when on the attack and the ref doesn't see fit to give a yellow. Neither does he give a yellow when Silva gets banjoed. Barry, on the other hand, gets a yellow for a nothing challenge. (bit like the 2 yellows he got a bit back)

Mario is Italian, is hot blooded and takes "Injustice" harder than most people. Once he learns to accept this and "Keep calm and carry on" he will be better for it. He CAN keep calm in situations, his penalties prove that, he just needs to control it.

People forget just how young he is. He's 21. He's scored 15 in 27 games this season, put that in contrast to

Ronaldo 12 in 47 at same age,
RVP 10 in 41 at same age
Aguero 19 in 54 at same age
Rooney 23 in 55 at same age

and i could go on (apart from Messi) and you realise he isn't doing bad at all.

In the same way that he can do no wrong in some fans eyes because of his character, he can also do no right in some fans eyes because of the same character.

All Mario Balotelli is at the moment is potential and he is showing that potential in flashes which is to be expected from a 21 year old.

If you are expecting consistent performances every week at 21 then criticise him for not being Lionel Messi. He has a better record at 21 than his peers do in their peak.

That's an interesting stat. Do you know if United won he league that season ? 55 games is a lot.

Balo's goal record overall is exceptional - but as much as I thought a little naively earlier in the season that he was good enough to lead our line week in and week out, having seen the way his form has dipped I tend to agree with your assessment that he's a little too young and immature for that right now.

Yeah they did. He got 14 in the league, 5 in FA Cup and 4 in Champs League.

Repeat these statistics without the penalties and in actual minutes of playing time.

One thing should worry Balo - if he doesn't make it here, I doubt he'll make it anywhere as much as his fans think he will.

Nobody would treat him on the way Mancini does and he'll see more Mourinho/Inter moments than those songs City fans do for him.

Unless he radically changes him self that I doubt will ever completely happen.

Granted Mancini has given Balo plenty of leeway, but he has also matured from last season and will continue to mature vis a vis his performances for City. Anyway, talented players always get more leeway than less talented ones. Rooney and Ronaldo both had the same issues when they were younger. Robben is still a moody fucker with an attitude problem and he's pushing 30!

I agree to some degree..

Still don't think he should be added to same sentence with Ronaldo and Messi (I laughed my arse when Mancini did it some time ago), even Robben.

Talented yes, if he matures a lot, and again I doubt he ever will in full form, he might be very good player but he'll never come close to Messi or Ronaldo levels.
