...FIVE MINUTES LATER..What a genius..tbf especially back in the day....UK fans didn't really follow Euro or SA leagues much .. pretty insular approach so we never know the real value until they start performing for us (unless they come from another prem team)

That's exactly how I remember it. He looked nothing special at all for the first 3-4 months and then it was as if something clicked and he'd worked out whatever it was that he needed to do differently from what he did in Spain in order to be effective in the Premier League.

I often used to use David Silva as the example when new players come and people say they're not good enough.
