Barca ticket prices announced

My first season since the cup schemes began that i'm not on all of them, dropped the euro one reluctantly due to cash probs and life debt :(

But want to try and get to the barca game (won some money at the last match on a £1 bet!!!) - would be booking online 9am thursday.

Anyone book online for the barca match last year? did it crash? we were still in the cup scheme so didn't have to worry, unlike now!
Mum can't do heights so want level 1, preferably near our own seats - so you guys with experience of online booking, am i likely to have a mental breakdown thursday morning as it fails to work?!?! ;)

£45 to watch a football match. Scandalous.
£46 at Goodison last Saturday to be squashed in a crap seat in a crumbling stand. And not much cheaper at most away games - and games at The Etihad for visitors.
Or is attending matches something you leave to others?

I have this thing called a season ticket.

So do I, but £46 at Goodison, £50 at Hull, £43 at Villa etc, and sometimes higher prices for visitors and non-S/T holders at home shows the Barcelona prices are not out of the ordinary. I suppose I agree with your comment about them being "scandalous", it's just that they also happen to be normal at the moment.

My maine hope would be that genuine City fans can get tickets, as last seasons game in the North Stand level 2 was something like the Muppet Show - full of overseas tourists and people who clearly weren't City fans. How they got all the tickets, god knows but Id wager they hadn't been to The Etihad before or since that game.

One bloke in the row in front took photos every 2 mins; when he went to leave with 5 mins to go, my mate tapped him on the shoulder and said sarcastically "see you on Saturday for the Stoke game."
If the overseas tourists hadn't been there you would have been sat on your own. The only muppets are the City management that decided to charge such high prices for kids in the family stand. They've done the same again and there'll be very little demand from fans with kids. But the really annoying thing is that after those of us who will buy tickets for their kids have done so, they'll give thousands away around the schools. Properly annoyed about this and I will be writing to the club to tell them so

Already had this conversation several times with City's customer services last year. Sick to death of hearing City giving away tickets while I pay for Myself, an over 18 & an under 16 for every home match, Barca costing me £105. They phoned me up saying its there policy to ensure a good atmosphere by giving tickets away to local services such as police, fire, hospitals, schools etc. I argued sensibly putting forward my case that if they can give them away, loyal fans who turn up no matter who we play, what weather or what night should have a rebated refund. We agreed to disagree but who wins? not friggin me. She said she would raise my point higher up the food chain, yeah right. Good luck with your letter, PM me if you get anywhere.

Ignoring schools, what evidence have you got that tickets are "given away" to the public sector when playing the likes of Barcelona in the last 16 of the Champions League?

Obviously not this specific game but in general this is the company's policy. Evidence apart from schools? I can only tell you what they told me on the phone (didn't know myself before that). As I said, loyal fans turn up no matter what conditions or what team is in front of them (if they are lucky enough to be able to afford it). That's the bit that gets on my tits, whether its £105 or £60 for me & the 2 kids its annoying hearing so many people getting them for nothing consistently.

Yep. I know some people say £45 vs Stoke is different to £45 vs Barca, but it's still just 22 blokes running about.

Still be there until I can't afford it, mind.

It's my understanding that tickets allocated to the public sector go to the Sports & Social groups are not given free. The tickets are purchased by members of those groups at discounted price. City don't do it for a lot of matches, just ones where it is anticipated that there won't be great demand for tickets. I know this then means that if City sold tickets at a certain level of pricing the stadium would be filled... err I mean tickets would be sold out and thus no need to allocate tickets to Sports & Social groups, but that's marketing for you.
