Barry is still good enough

If Durham thinks that people putting down United players is what's holding back England from progressing on an international level... well... no, it's idiocy like that which holds England back. Granted, I'm an outsider, but I think that gives me perspective. Over-reliance on grit and graft instead of skill is what holds your international fortunes hostage.

Never ever lost faith in Barry, I'v always said "He is one of the UNsung heros of MCFC" along with Milner

Outfuckingstanding last night; sometimes I feel that players like Gaz Baz and Nigel de Jong are better appreciated by the people at matches as you can see the hard work they do off the ball. Barry has been 1 of our most consistently good performers this season

Like he has done all his career here he also amongst doing alright gifted the ball to them a couple of times and they should have scored from it once.

give it a break he isn't good enough, never was, never will be. did well to be in a title winning team last season and there are many many better players than him in his position out there.

one of the worst posts I have ever read in BM

It's too easy for people to criticise Barry because he's been part of an under-achieving England setup for the last decade or so. He is slow, yes, and doesn't always look the most comfortable going forward with the ball but he keeps things ticking over for us and covers the whole pitch. Outstanding last night

I reckon the manager and the other players rate him highly, otherwise he wouldn't be in the team every week.

I've not been the greatest Barry fan in the past, but he has won me over this season. I know he's not quick, but he never stops moving (unlike garcia), so covers so much ground in a game. Always there to break things up and pass the ball the ball to those who are more creative.

barry is good enough for PL when his is in form, but don't forget that it took whole season for him to regain his old form after injury, but when he is in good form i don't think that he is good enough to play against teams like barsa or madrid or munich. against this team you need extra-class midfielder like alonso, like martinez, like busquets and khedira. that's why i think that in a team like manchester city, which is built to be n1 in europe, gareth barry should be on the bench and play 10-15 PL games. look at barcelona they have mascherano and song two one of the best deffensive midfielders on the bench when everyone is fit, bayern spent 30 million on martinez but gustavo is more prefered than him, real does same with modric. it was stupid decision from mancini to buy rodwell and garsia, with that money we could have bought a player with extra-class quality.

Bear in mind he was against a centre midfield two with a combined age of 70 before whipping your dicks out over Barry. He has been a real asset to us while he's been here but this was his best game for a long time. Even rags will admit that their midfield is extremely average; this won't be have been anywhere near Barry's toughest match of the season.
