There is something missing in our DNA when it comes to the CL and after 3 seasons it's about time we found it. Starting with Roma.

Don't agree. Tonight was the classic CL game between two of the best teams in Europe. Both sides showed the capacity to prey on the others' weaknesses. I think we struggled tonight in specific areas (Sagna defensively, Edin on an attacking front) but overall it was what it was. These fine margins are what the top end is all about. Unless you get into the Real Madrid mind sight of having a rock star in every attacking position.

Pep had to make half a dozen tactical changes throughout the game, and we matched all of them.

Been a long time since i've felt that good about a defeat.

And I feel the opposite because there is a real sense it could have been a lot better with just a bit more self belief on our part. To do well in this competition we will need a lot more than a warm glow after a gallant defeat. This is our 4th season and we still turn up to the big games like country rubes in cheap shoes and perfume from Superdrug.

Again, just don't agree. If the best you've got is some vague reference to some utterly subjective notion of inferiority I'll leave you to it. Overall I'm arsed about the result. Finishing first or second in the group doesn't really matter. I like the idea of playing the big boys home and away. In the round of 16. Lose. Out. Win. Through. No one can say "yeah but you only played FC Nobody".

Like I say, can't remember the last time we lost and i felt like this.

Result aside, performances aside, there's something not right with our play.

We simply are not direct enough. Time and time and time again, we were breaking but the player with the ball - often Navas - had no-one to cross it to and so had to slow down and pass it sideways. We gave them far too much time to get organised and ready to defend and we hardly ever got in behind.

This wasn't just against Bayern, it's been like that for a while. We need to take a long hard look at our tactics and gameplan because by and large this slow- slow-slightly quick-slow-slow-slow is not working.

Were were playing very very deep so Navas having the ball meant not much because Silva/Dzeko/Nasri arent sprinters. There was one situation maybe in first half when Navas could use his pace and made a cross with Dzeko also making a run but Boateng cleared it. That was it. If Boateng slower a bit Dzeko gets the ball and its a sitter.

Thats why we would need very pacy wide player with big goalscoring threat when we play the one striker formation. Even if its 451 or 4231.
Navas, Silva, Nasri arent pacy wide players or dont have huge goalscoring threat.

By the way our comfortable PL tactics/formation cant be used in CL as tactically teams are better here its great vs the PLzen level but already not good enough vs decent team even with lesser squads.

Our only hope in CL is a perfectly fit Fernando-Fernandinho-Yaya trio with Yaya adding goals/assists to attacks as from wide no one can do many goals at City.

But if one of them is injured, other one Yaya is in useless form we get dominated like tonight even tho Bayern is a really great team they missed 3-4 starting players. Defensively they would have been more stable with Martinez, Schweinsteiger in middle. And its not like we created many chances even without them.
Or Ribery, Robben can do magic any moment they play, big match winners with awful lot CL experience and if Hart has a mediocre day they still win it 3-0 probably.

It was that bad we kept them out for 90 mins and lost only on a deflected goal coming off the back of Arsenal i didn't expect much anyway but I take a lot away from tonight some people need to chill.

It took me nearly 20 posts to find a Blue!

I feel the exact same, well no, I'm pretty pissed off Yaya remained on the pitch but all in all we were desperately unlucky in the end not to come away without a point.

I want to win it or go as far as possible, although I agree getting knocked out in the Group stages or the last 16 will make the League easier.

I think most City fans expected to get beat tonight.

What is it with people picking on nasri, yaya etc
The problem is the manager. He picks the team the system we play, it's obvious against teams like this we do not play certain players in certain games and in certain systems. Against high intensity teams we cannot play nasri, yaya and silva in the same team.

The problem is you expect your big players to turn up for games like this. Yaya is a player that can completely control these games. IF he does those 3 work wonders together. Silva has no problem in high intensity games? Playing him in behind Edin was the right move as he is the best at feeding the striker through (Edin was unlucky and the defense also did well against him, fair play...) and he works hard on and off the ball. I agree with Nasri to an extent as his game now is heavily based on build up and not so much explosive play even though he is more than capable of it. If the Reus rumours are true that would be ideal for me as he can do 2 jobs where as Nasri tends to get lost out wide.

God knows how you can draw a positive from that dross tonight. Yes, we were only 3 mins from a point but we were shocking, imo, against a side that on paper I thought we should be beating. We were second best for the majority of the game and there were worrting signs from players like Nasri, Yaya and Sagna.

Not good, imo.

Tough luck, playing germany nt just after they win the world cup. But there are more points to grab, upward and onward!

Correct , So no Blues should have an opinion other than that everything is good.

we werent great but were werent bad, its only fans offering their thoughts. Some negatives yes but always expect that when we lose. we do have a great squad but some people think we should offer more and so do some 'expert' pundits.

A draw would have been great but if we win the games we expect to win then we should go through even without the blue glasses on.

Dross?

Sleep on it. Watch it again. Desaily for example said post match in his analysis "50/50 match. Simple. Bayern got the break."

I agree with him and well, he isn't Jamie Rednapp.

Yeah Sagna and Nasri weren't great but I'm not about to argue the toss over the team performance.
