Bayern post match thread

Our biggest problem in games like these is the mindset,we ditch our natural game and start giving to much respect to the opposition and then results like these are bound to happen, team with lesser quality than us who do good against bayern consistently have one thing in common, they take the game to them
As per the competition and its fairness the least said the better

Well that was poor yet again in Europe .
Will we learn doesn't look like it .
Best players on are team tonight were Navas and Joe Hart .

Again, just don't agree. If the best you've got is some vague reference to some utterly subjective notion of inferiority I'll leave you to it. Overall I'm arsed about the result. Finishing first or second in the group doesn't really matter. I like the idea of playing the big boys home and away. In the round of 16. Lose. Out. Win. Through. No one can say "yeah but you only played FC Nobody".

Like I say, can't remember the last time we lost and i felt like this.

God knows how you can draw a positive from that dross tonight. Yes, we were only 3 mins from a point but we were shocking, imo, against a side that on paper I thought we should be beating. We were second best for the majority of the game and there were worrting signs from players like Nasri, Yaya and Sagna.

Not good, imo.

Dross?

Sleep on it. Watch it again. Desaily for example said post match in his analysis "50/50 match. Simple. Bayern got the break."

I agree with him and well, he isn't Jamie Rednapp.

Yeah Sagna and Nasri weren't great but I'm not about to argue the toss over the team performance.

Alright, dross is harsh, Arsenal were dross last night.

It's just I expect so much more and again we fail to deliver. Wrong selection, wrong tactics, poorly timed subs. It'sjust all too fucking predictable.

We were shocking in the second half.

There was a central midfielder missing today...Yaya an Fernadinho can t handle three Bayern players and it doesn t matter who they are...Nasri was poor....

Don't agree. Tonight was the classic CL game between two of the best teams in Europe. Both sides showed the capacity to prey on the others' weaknesses. I think we struggled tonight in specific areas (Sagna defensively, Edin on an attacking front) but overall it was what it was. These fine margins are what the top end is all about. Unless you get into the Real Madrid mind sight of having a rock star in every attacking position.

Pep had to make half a dozen tactical changes throughout the game, and we matched all of them.

Been a long time since i've felt that good about a defeat.

And I feel the opposite because there is a real sense it could have been a lot better with just a bit more self belief on our part. To do well in this competition we will need a lot more than a warm glow after a gallant defeat. This is our 4th season and we still turn up to the big games like country rubes in cheap shoes and perfume from Superdrug.

I can assure you that City from the top downwards do think finishing first matters. Every team with designs on doing well or winning the CL fight to finish top. Every team that finished top of the group last year progressed. It matters. Last year there was a sense of missed opportunities against Barca. Year before we blew it against Real Madrid. We are not that far away and we have the players who can do it at the highest level but right now we seem to struggle to impose our will on these big games. Its in the head. Maybe we just need to win one of these big games. A lucky break. A big goal at the crucial moment and we will be set fair. We need that defining moment.

How were we that poor?

We played the right game against a heavily based possession team.

If Fernando was fit we could have been more creative as yaya would have been aloud to proceed forward more.

We should have scored on several occasions and a clear penalty was not given to us.

The goal was unlucky, not just the timing of it but the deflection was harsh.

Tonight we competed with the best in difficult circumstances. Which surely must be one of first times since we entered the champions league.

Man up ffs.

Just my two cents for all it's worth but Fernandinho was brilliant tonight, you have to be brilliant when you are cast alongside somebody who chooses his moments and so far this season after "birthday cake gate" those moments are as rare as a Samir Nasri forward thrust.
Clichy was lazy and clompacent and left Milner to do his job for the lead up goal and Sagna looks as unfit as Maicon did. Again Fernandinho was brilliant and Demichelis was next best. Ref was bent as is par for the course with Uefa

tactics wrong....a lot of people on here said we should start with 3 central midfielders with milner replacing nasri and it wasnt till that happened that we looked better......

but we got what we deserved tonight (with the exception of hart)...nothing

we have yet to really get going this season

Wasn't great but wasn't awful, either.

Yaya and Nasri were passengers.

Always felt confident we would score, until Silva moved to the left. It nullified our attacking threat completely and at that point it was all about holding out for a draw.

We were wasteful on the counter attack and didn't exploit it near enough. Bayern looked quite open and in trouble whenever we attacked quickly.

It's difficult to put a finger on why this is happening.

I'd love to see a Midfield three of Fernando, Fernandinho and Silva, with Nasri/Jovetic and Navas wide. Kun up top.

I've no doubt we would qualify,no need of reading to much into Roma result, but I hope we learn from this ,against such quality having our yahha becomes a sonogo with 2 man midfield ,you can't afford to have a pedestrian its as simple as that
4-2-1-2-1 is the answer with the 2 cm not moving out from our oown half for the 1st half with the attacking four having full freedom
