Bayern post match thread

Bayern were the better side but we were far from humiliated.

Have we improved in Europe since last season? No but why would we? We signed Fernando & Mangala to improve but neither played!

Once we get them in the team for matches like this then and only then can we judge what our prospects are in this competition.

As others have said Yaya & Nasri both played badly. Nasri is a bit in and out with his form so I'm not too worried about him although
I'd start Milner against Chelsea. Yaya is a concern given his age. I'm just hoping that its not the start of a more general decline.

I thought Sagna did okay but he's never going to be Zabba. Hart looked close to his best which is reassuring.

Overall I'm disappointed but not alarmed. I'm confident we will beat Chelsea if we set up properly.

Agreed,

I thought we were decent in bursts, which isn't bad considering the game passed Nasri and Yaya by. Sagna and Clichy didn't have great nights either, but I thought if we'd changed to 4-4-1-1 with Milner on right and Kolorov on the left we could've competed better. And maybe there-in lies the problem, inability to adapt our formation during the game, Munich started with 3 at the back but changed in the first half. Still, the result isn't a disaster. Beat CSKA home and away and Roma at home and a point from 1of the other 2 games and we 'should' go through ok.

(Lets hope Big Yaya was saving it for Chelsea on Sunday)

Not sure we were thinking on their weaknesses. Our strong side is our attacking play and certainly not the defending. We tried to defend a 0-0 here, that was the gameplan, but wasnt a good one even if nearly worked because its a really good gameplan that is working Hart has about half of the big saves he had. I you want a 0-0 you dont expect your GK to be the only hero but limiting your opponents clear chances is the tactical goal.

The way we were playing only the time of their goal was in question it was very late but it happened. I wouldnt say we defended well. Hart has matches like this usually 1-2 per year so we were lucky it was his day tonight. Otherwise it would have been ugly even vs a Bayern hat was mising more starting players.

We were way to deep in defending th killed all the counter chances and we just basically kept giving away posession because didnt know what to do with the ball. The pressed us, we hate that, were very deep, went even deeper as game went on, so really their goal was coming, while our attacking play didnt even exist.

We lost, not disaster. Still cant really see that did our defending improved one bit to last season, Zaba can be rotated more thats good, Mangala maybe can replace Demichelis this season, maybe not, interesting risk to take for 32m, while Fernando is good defensively but could be injury prone. And was playing for years in a midfield trio but seems here he mostly will be used in a duo.

Only 1 clean sheet vs a pretty useless Newcastle so far in this season.

CL: The two Roma games and two CSKA games will decide our fate in the group, cant say anything whats gonna happen, underestimating Roma would be a huge mistake.

Absolute crap. Totally outplayed by a Bayern side missing many of its best players. That's how far we are off this European garbage. Fail to get 3 points against Roma at home, and we should just give up on it for yet another season. We simply aren't good enough. Concentrate on the Premier League.

I thought Hart, Vinny, MDM and Fernindinho were excellent. Silva had a decent game too and shoulda had a penalty!

Maybe so, but Bayern were 5 goals better than us without most of their best players. That should be the lesson out of this. We were shit.

We missed a trick, with Bayerns injuries, we should have done better. Yaya and Nasri were passengers. I felt the game turned when Edin was taken off for Sergio, we couldn't get out of our own half for a period of time. Edin held the ball up really well imo.

Gutted, but not as bad as that Stoke defeat which still makes me feel sick to the stomach!!

we were missing zabs, fernando, jovetic and aguero (not 100% fit yet) , if you are going to state Manchester City Football Club are "crap" , at least put some balanced thought and intelligence into your soon to be regretted rant ,

They were missing Robben, Ribbery, Badstuber & Schweinsteiger; imagine what might have happened if they'd been fit and available! I would say a balanced opinion is that we are nowhere near their level. Apologies for having the temerity to criticise the team I support.
