People who are saying that it doesn't matter who we play in the last 16 are wrong! It would have meant not only would we have played a lesser team but also pretty much guaranteed that one of the bigger teams would also have been knocked out as Bayern would then have been drawn against one of the other first placed teams.

I simply cannot believe that Pelle, for all his experience did not understand the rules which let's be honest are extremely easy to understand. I can only think that they never even believed that they would ever be in a position to go through so had not even thought of what was required before the game. I am surprised that when what he said became clear someone did not tell him his mistake.
Good post.

It's being debated because our manager didn't know what score we needed to go top. Considering he is experienced and paid a wad and also has a team around him to help - that is f'in amateurish at best. We will never know if say Aguero would have made the difference but it was achance to potentialy give us a much easier task in the next round, in the premier club competition. It doesn't spoil the result but it does raise questions.
Of course he f**king knew.

Classic rag media (win over Shakhtar > win over Bayern apparently), but nothing can demean our win tonight!

oh dear

lololololol, that is... i have no words for this.

Look, once and for all....

He said that Silva could only play 70 minutes, 4 goals, 5 goals or 10 goals our playmaker was coming off after 70 mins.
It didn't matter whether or not he brought Aguero on, we were unlikely to score after the player who was pulling the attacking strings went off. So Pellers decided to save Aguero for the Arsenal game as he already had Negredo on.

I still gotta praise Man C for a great performance, its much easier scoring two goals and holding than scoring three to comeback and win! Great performance!!!
Thanks. I think Bayern took their foot off their accelerator and then couldn't get their game back together

We'll both benefit from the experience. Glad we can't play you in the next round. You are still favourites. Especially when Robben comes back

Never thought a team would actually outplay Bayern at the Allianz. If Chelsea fans say they did it first call them on their BS! You dont out play an opponent by sitting back and soaking up pressure for 120 minutes!

Just for curiousity which of our players stood out for you?

An absolutely wonderful, jaw dropping night to be a supporter of this fantastic Football Club.

Some wonderful, individual performances from Zabaleta, Fenrnandinho, Milner, Dzeko, Silva and my man of the match Demichelis.

Kolorov and Lescott got roasted in that first twenty minutes and then stood up to be counted like the experienced, seasoned Internationals they are. The much maligned Garcia did not put a foot wrong in the second half.

This Bayern side may be the best I have ever seen at playing that final, threatening ball into an opponents penalty area so its no wonder they have won so many games.

Well done City !

Marty man of the match! Maybe, maybe not. But he's a top player, terrific performance tonight, and some people on here should give him a break.

I agree, Zaba committed the same mistake MDM made against Swansea and nobody is saying anything about Zaba's mistake. Everybody stepped up and played well in the end, this is a statement win, biggest win in our history and could be just what we needed to push forward an win the title

Really, you think?

Thanks again, its a pity a few of our own can't accept what they saw tonight.

Good post.
Not a good post, we've just beat the best team in the world with a reserve side. Rejoice.

FFS give it a rest and let us enjoy a top night. Fuck Stretford.
It's not just me. Loads are saying the same thing and as I said, I'm enjoying the win. The poster was talking about why people are debating what pellers meant.
Pige reassure me you are not the ultimate RAG WUM. At 20k posts I cannot believe it but you were outed last year on a Micah Richards post I think as at least a WUM if not a RAG WUM. Why are you giving so much credence to Sky tonight? FFS we've just beat the best team in the world with our reserve side. As Maggie would have said Rejoice, just Rejoice!
I don't have to reassure you about anything other than first game 88, season tickets up to mid naughties and away matches from early 90s to early naughties.

A night to absolutely savour, if we had hung on v Madrid last year it wouldnt have been such a big as an accomplishment as this. The fact that we have beaten Munch in their own backyard without our best players means the tougher teams we will draw will be shitting bricks. i saw millions of retweets on twitter that Ancellotti has said we are the team to fear.

Fucking hell. Our Manchester City. Not only feared in England but over Europe.

We are getting there, and it won't be long till we arrive. :)

After 12 minutes I felt in murderous mood, but as the game progressed I thought our lads were magnificent. Silva was always in a class of his own, Navas always gave more problems than Ribery without his flashiness, Fernandinho still improving (how good can he be?), Milner truly excellent (is he good enough for England, Roy?) and Edin Dzeko giving them more problems than they were comfortable with. And Zaba - did he give Ribery a kick?It began, after 20 or so minutes, to remind me of the cup winners' cup match we played in Bilbao in 1969 - did any of the other old codgers on here feel the same? This is the best team in the world we're told, and they were keeping the ball in the corner flag at the end so we wouldn't beat them 4-2, rather than 3-2! City, the joke of Europe? City, who showed they had no class at the Etihad in September? And Sky seize on Pellegrini's comments to mask the fact that we won in Munich by claiming he didn't know the rules. Typical.

PS Thought their two CDs were brilliant tonight. Best since Morecambe and Wise.

Too many nobs (small) on here getting wound up on Sky's agenda to play down our magnificient achievement of winning against the best team in the world with our RESERVE side.

This is what I can`t get my around !! If we had scored another goal (according to this final league table) how the hell would we have gone through as group winners,as they would be 1 goal worse off and us ONLY one goal better off :

Played Goal Difference Points
View full table
1 Bayern Munich 6 12 15
2 Man City 6 8 15
3 Viktoria Plzen 6 -11 3
4 CSKA Moscow 6 -9 3

Some fucker clear this up for me please !!!!!!
