Benefit Claimants Forced To Contribute To Their Council Tax

I would love to know if anyone who spurts out the daily mail tripe about booze fags tellys and ipads actually knows how much benifit is for people who don't fiddle the disability or who are not moonlighting or selling drugs. Cos believe me, as someone who has had to use the system in the past, it is not a great deal of money. Most proud working people who find themselves out of work and are to honest to take the piss, have to scrape by on very little handout. The rent is rarely coverd by HB so that shortfall comes from the JSA and now they want people to pay council tax!? The mess this country is in is NOT the the fault of the average unemployed woman or man and the tories and their right wing media pals are disgraceful for suggesting it subtly and not so subtly.on occasions. Don't believe the hype!

Spot on.
Sadly the pig ignorant won't allow facts and truth distort their stupid prejudices.

There was a woman on the new complaing about this, clearly just a lazy get who couldnt be arsed to work, saying she would struggle to feed her many younglings... then, without a hint of irony, it shows young Daz & Kezza sat on the couch each playing with an ipad.

Is there a way lazy bastards can be targetted without it effecting people who genuinely need benefits?

What a co-incidence that was and proves without any doubt everyone claiming benefits are scrounging scum.

I think they should bring a law in, prohibiting children of people claiming benefits from recieving Birthday or Christmas presents.

Did i say that? No.
But if you are struggling to the point where you cant feed your kids, why not just settle for the 1 ipad eh?

It was more a dig at the news item to be honest than you but, no you didn't say it. I didn't say you did. And I've no idea why they don't make do with one i pad. I know nothing about them and their circumstances and I suspect other than a two minute news item, neither do you. Maybe they were presents? I don't know. Or care.

We're due another poll tax riot anyway. The government need to be held more accountable for wasted money. I heard on Question Time the other night the last government wasted £39billion on defence spending. Actual wasted funds as in purchasing aircraft carriers that planes couldn't land on. How many of those MP's had a personal interest in the defence companies that benefitted. It seems to me the only solution they can come up with is to take a little from a lot leading to further poverty and unrest. Revolution is inevitable as the masses become more educated. Social media allows for more widespread communication than the government can now cope with.
Actually they purchased the wrong plane and originated back to the F35B due to a problem with the hook gear on the C version, the carrier is fine the plane was wrong

Oh that's not so bad then, they may be able to exchange them, did they keep the receipt ?

Even though they were probably paid for some better off working tax paying relative they should be confiscated and used to pay off the national debt.

As I understand it, it is each councils decision to charge or not and also what to charge. So it depends on the social makeup of the area and how fiscally prudent the council has been.

I suppose that makes it okay for the one's that haven't ? So what your saying is that its not the governments fault for this forcing councils into this situation by through its failed austerity plan, its the individual council's fault?

Dont agree that everyone on benefits should pay towards council tax but the choice not to work shouldnt be so easy for those that are physically and mentally able but are just too lazy.

Councils need to screw more money out of poor people because many of them have decided to pay the so called Living Wage to their own low paid staff.

Council here in Brighton are a bunch of cnts, we have the highest parking and fine charges outside london, the government have told councils that if they want to up council tax by 2% then they have to put it local referendum.
So what did Brighton council do.??

Cnts raised it by 1.99%..[/quote]

you live in Brighton !! well the council will have to pay for Brighton pride and your cottaging facilities somehow !!!

Council Tax benefit is paid to 5.9m households of which 3.2m have people of working age both in and out of work.

The 2.7m households who dont have a person of working age i.e pensioners will still recieve full CTB. All other households are eligible to recieve a bill, whether in work out of work or disabled.

Once again the strivers are being targeted, but remember this Govt. promised to make work pay
