I know people on here don't want to hear it but when Gundogan agreed to stay, Rodri should not have been purchased. On top of this, Danilo should still be at the club and Cancelo still at Juventus. As you say, the somewhat limited budget we had, should have gone on a left-back (not Angelino if we aren't going to play him) and a centre back.
Huh,replacing dinho was THE priority, dani wanted out so we needed a rb,we brought angel,he is a left back, most new players need time to settle and learn the system,in hindsight we needed a cb,i think what most people mean is they wanted to replace vinny the man,we had 3cb's,dinho was trained to play there that was always the plan for this season and 2 promising kids,no-one could forsee both first choice cb's injured, your post makes no sense to me

Replacing the best CDM in the world over the past two seasons, is not a priority when you hand his capable understudy a new contract.

Replacing the back-up RB is not a priority, when one of your two best CBs (and captain) leaves the club and you’ve spent the past two seasons playing average midfielders at LB.

We gambled the whole season on Laporte staying fit and rotating his partner between Otamendi and Stones....and lost.

A small Mendy anecdote from the new Pep book made me chuckle. Something tells me Ben hasn't done his own laundry in a while.

I stopped reading at capable understudy

I am no physio but I thought niggles with hamstrings and the likes are highly probable following a long lay-off.
It is normal, after bad injuries you naturally try and protect that part of your body so putting stress on other parts,it's about getting confident in his knee then he will spread the load again

I like Mendy, he was great when he first came, got injured, been out for an age, has come back, played managed minutes but to me doesn't look half the player he was.. gives the ball away far too easily, doesn't tend to attack the defender and has his default 'smash it into the box cross' which more often than not produces less return than the 29 corners we get every home game.

I want to give him a chance but I just don't think he's good enough!! Hope he proves me wrong..

And it's his fault for being a friend of Bernardo - apparently . According to the FA .
