I'd say it's questionable regarding Rodney being a bigger talent. He's looked solid, but pretty average, whenever I've seen him play and I doubt he'll ever get a first team game with us.

Don't think the Kongolo transfer means much. At least not as definitive as it is being mad on here.

Spoke to a Feyenoord supporter who said Kongolo played left back mainly out of necessity and much more fits the profile of a centre back.

And keep in mind that Monaco have had only 2 cb's last season(neither left footed), and Jorge has had 3 games played, all at left midfield.

Rodney is 4 years younger. When he left Feyenoord for City he was a huge talent and at his age way ahead to his older brother Terence at that same age. It might be that as many more talents at our academy Rodney came to a standstill. Either temporary or not, something often seen with youth players. How Rodney pans out no one will know. And let's see if Terence can progress at Monaco.

Btw the youngest of the family, Fidel, is also playing for City.

Maybe. Many youngsters would've been better playing first team football at a young age. That's the challenge with young players. Difficult to know how they develop. But other than both Terence and Rodney play different positions the future will show who made the right decisions. Terence played CB last season and was poor to be relegated to left back this season and he did fine. Let's see where Rodney stands in 4 years time.

What worries me with Mendy is his defensive ability, he seems to be all I've the place positionally at times.

Yeah. He's still a very raw player, one that Pep will have to work with to improve his defensive and mental game. His injury record is a little worrying too.
