Made such a difference in us controlling the middle of the park for large parts of the game, between him and David we had two highly press resistant players who also had them being cautious of the 3 in front being afforded any space. They don't have anyone in their midfield to compete with either of them.

Defo MOTM.

When Kevin is back, wouldn't mind Kevin rotating with David as the more attacking player, letting Bernardo pair with Gundogan or Dinho in midfield.

He was absolutely fantatsic. He dropped deeper and steadied the ship after a rough first ten minutes. Totally controlled the midfield after that. Te number of times he turned them around simply by turning and dribbling through them was paramount to our stability.

I don't say this lightly, as Dave has been our best ever player, but when everyone is fully fit, Bernardo might be pairing with kdb in our best 11.

There was a point early in the game when they were doing their crazy press where he simply ran the ball half the pitch, was brought down and it dampened the atmosphere.

He's a brilliant player..

Well, obviously Gundogan will start somewhere!:)

He was as good in the middle as I’d hoped. Now I hope he stays there for good.

I love him dropping deep to collect the ball, turning and running and making great decisions. He really is the perfect player (bar a few inches).

I’d love to see if a midfield trio of KDB, Bernardo and Zinchenko could work. I know it lacks height but the passing would be supreme.

It's hard to really see an occasion when you wouldn't want Bernardo in the team, he's so hardworking and intelligent that wherever you put him and whatever you ask him to do, you're pretty confident he'll do it excllently

He has to play central for me. When he's out wide I feel he's completely wasted there. I think playing him centrally is a huge benefit to the side.

Been thinking this lately myself! Bernardo is slowly but surely proving he is more than able to take over the mantle from our David. At this moment in time, I would select Bernardo and KDB with Fernandinho.

David will get better of course so hopefully, this could be even better news as the competition for places intensifies.

Not to mention Foden and Gundogan.

In a midfield three with KDB and Bernardo, which of the two would you play deeper? I was wondering whether the emergence of Bernardo in a central role could allow KDB to get forward more than he did last season?

His technique sets him apart from all but the absolute elite. If you add in the work rate and attitude he has, he will be top world class in the next 3 years and potentially our best player. He was effortless on Sunday and continues to become an obvious central choice.

I’d never thought of playing him deeper but as soon as we started passing at the back his movement off the ball creating angles to receive possession and also to create space for Fernandinho and Dave was just perfect. You could see Salah, Firminho and Manes heads drop because they knew they couldn’t cover every option. Their midfield three didn’t know whether to press or drop off and it just allowed us to dictate the tempo.

We also haven’t had a dribbler in central midfield for years, since Yaya’s decline, who can commit players and consistently beat them. Even he needed space though because it was pace and power, whereas Bernardo it’s just pure ability. It just creates space and draws defenders out of position which is a vital option against packed defences.

I genuinely don’t think I’d change our attacking midfield options of De Bruyne, Silva, Bernardo and Foden. Gundogan is a cracking player too but he’s too inconsistent at the moment.
