The idea that Barcelona could afford Bernardo Silva given their current financial plight is, frankly, laughable.

Its also incredibly annoying and frustrating.

Maybe the 'authorities' should be looking in their direction rather than focusing on the like's of us,who are debt free and encouraging healthy transfers and the re-distribution of wealth within the game.

Makes you wonder if there is another agenda.....

Can you please tell me how businesses work then? We should be making emotional decisions on transfers based on players’ loyalty? These players have benefited from the club just as much as the club has benefited from them so there is no Santa-clause treatment required. The poster suggested that we should sell Bernardo the way some other club would sell to us “if we was the buying club.”

I don’t see anything wrong in what he said. He is simply saying that we need to value our prized asset properly in agreeing any fee from suitors rather than taking the emotional route. If a club wants a player desperately many times they go out of their way to get the player and on many occasions they even get shafted just to get an asset that they consider valuable. If a team places great value on the player they want to sign yet they are lowballing the selling club, the selling club doesn’t have an obligation to sell even if the player comes crying and seeking the move. The clubs response to the player would be, “why not talk to your agent and the buyer club to do better.”

Yeah, it's a bit irritating having to go through the same nonsense every window. You'd imagine that Bernardo and his agent are well aware of their situation too though, so hopefully they're taking it with a pinch of salt as well.

Ridiculous, isn't it. Is there any update on how much we've received yet? I Know last year it was reported that we'd only had a couple of million off them, but presumably they've paid further instalments since?

no one knows. they could have paid it all by now but the story from last sept is all we know
 
So stories of Bernardo AND Cancelo to Barça are being ramped up across the Spanish media.

Fine! Take both of em & in return we'll take £40m & FDJ. If not, Barça need to go fuck themselves & lay off their crackpipe... :-/

Think this is a bit of a red herring.
There will have been a payment structure in place for the transfer, which probably spread the payments out over the length of his contract.
They can't have 'football' debt or they will be banned from signing players like the Saudi club have been because they owe Leicester money that should have been paid

Yeah they hugely ripped us off for Torres. Cheap at twice the price.
 
if he only wants Barca, well they paid 50m last summer to Leeds for Raphina. or 45m for Torres to us not long ago (in 20 years installments lol). Bernardo is levels above these two.

Read today that Deco might be looking at alternatives for Cancelo due to his age and wages, I don’t think they can afford to pay for Bernardo, so hopefully he ends up staying
