Barney's on Moss Lane, Altrincham (opposite Altrincham FC) is pretty damn good.
Is that the one that used to be called Robins or something? The one on same road but further towards alty used to be nice too.

Yeah Robins! certainly a nice chippy, used to get a pie and chips there when i'd occasionally watch Alty as a kid.

Also in that vicinity, ish ; Theos on Shaftesbury Avenue. Probably the best chippy in the area, and shits all over Timperley Fish Bar. Never eaten there since my teens, when a mate who worked there showed me a photo on his phone of the back kitchen. Never again.

And Grove Lane chippy aswell, spot on. Looks like a shed with a chimney from the outside, but the chips there are class.

Think Timperley Fish Bar's the best round the Timperley area to be honest. Not a big fan of the chips from Theo's once had fish and chips from the hut on grove lane and the fish was rank. Never been let down by the fish bar though. I'd say Theo's is average at best.

Guess its all down to opinion :) I used to love Timperley Fish Bar back when it was called "Mc Donalds" in the 90s, but it wasn't the same for me after that.

Hart Road chippy is lovely - although I'd never get the gravy from there....

The Claremont chippy used to be nice before it was taken over and infested with cockroaches...

The Battered Cod in Fallowfield and Withington are the nicest though. . .

All of the above do Chip barm's too ;)

Only had food from there a few times myself, used to go grove lane the odd time too, that was nice.

Yes matey, 100% correct. Its still "Theo's Fine Kettle of Fish" now, but its generally just known as Theo's. Aside from the "Battered Cod" and "Harry Ramsden's", its one of the few chippies I know that is a brand. There is also one in Sale, and I saw one elsewhere recently, but my memory evades me as to where.

Grove Lane is nice, I agree...not been there in a good while though. Maybe tonight :)

Not near me, but still in Middleton; The Langley Friery. Won chippy of the year in Manchester not so long ago, cracking chippy!

The Langley Friery on Wood Street! I used to eat from there quite regularly and my Grandad still does. I'm sure he'd have let me know had the chips reduced in quality.

This is round the corner from my dad's and used to be really good when the older bloke owned it. Then he left it to his son and think been sold since. The chips are always dry, hard and undercooked now.
Rather go to the chinese in Alky and Midd Junction for chips nowadays as cooked properly.

it`s changed hands now but the chippy that was opposite the parkside when we were at maine road was quality,i thought it had the best ever curry sauce in there, gravy was decent too..
