Best game you ever attended

The 5-1 Charlton promotion game at Maine Road. Just for once we did it the easy way and we could enjoy the party! (Well when Andy May's header went in that is!)
Truly a great day.

-- Sun Jul 07, 2013 8:50 pm --

Not sure it counts as the match was abandoned, but the Denis Law backheeler derby in 1974 was the best atmosphere I've experienced.

The post match entertainment was excellent too.

Got to say that , other than the thought that the rags went down , i didn't enjoy that day one bit ...... you could just sense that it was gonna kick off as the game wore on , and when it did it wasn't very pleasant , that fighting in the scoreboard paddock was bad to say the least ..... wasn't particuarly nice after the game either!

We hardly even celebrated the goal .....

I can tell you me and my brother along with Mike Doyle did!

One of the best for atmosphere - Aris.

For me the CL never matched it, don't know why.

Not including and Derbies / Gillingham / QPR or cup finals

Which is the best City game you have witnessed ?

For me :

City 3 Newcastle 3 when they were going for the title and Kinkladze had the game of his life. This game had everything and whilst we were having a shocking season the Geordies were sweeping everyone aside.

I enjoyed the City Liverpool game in 77, when we were losing 1-0 at half time. Second half Barnes ran them ragged and we won 3-1, but I think the whole ground was willing Mike Doyles effort in but unfortunately it just slipped by the post. Oh to be 19 again!!

boxing day or day after away at Leeds earlier eighties we won 2.0 and we absolutely thrashed them and had at least 10000 fans there as well

great game, unbelievable performance, kiddo scored great goal. Has to be Charlton for me though. Why does 2-1 win over Derby even get a mention? Wouldn't be in my top 50.

I think the poster who included the Derby game had a point. Quinny scored a goal, then went in net after TC was sent off and saved a penalty! I remember that game as quite special too.

There's been loads over the years (not bad for a club with no history pre 2008) so trying to select a few more not previously mentioned:

Blackburn away the year they won the league and we were battling relegation. We won 3-2 and outclassed them. Also Leeds at home when they won the league, 4-0!!

Fantastic win and atmosphere at QPR in the FA Cup Round 4 early 90s. They were a very good side and had a great home record but we beat them 2-1. The celebrations when Whitey scored the winner!

Also Newcastle in the league cup when they were running riot under Keegan. Paul Walsh scored in a 2-1 win totally against the odds. Took us to the Qtrs which was heady heights in those days.

Pompey away 85. Simmo with the lob, great goal and great scenes in the away end. Vital win.

Beating Chelsea 6-2 at MR when I was young. Hadn't seen us score that many before.

They're all coming flooding back now so will finish with the 2 great home games from the 81 cup run - Norwich 6-0 when even Gerry Gow scored and also Big Mal's return for the Palace 4-0.

Fantastic memories.

I remember that too, same age. I've hated Liverpool ever since because a big ginger haired scouse twot knocking four shades of shit out of plenty of city fans. I'll never forget it.

Has to be the 4-3 at Newcastle when we won the league

Me too.

I would also mention the Ballet on Ice against Spurs at Maine Road
