Ragglesboro 2nd leg of the LC semi in 1976. They were a dour, hard outfit and led 1-0 after the 1st leg. We were immense on the night of the home leg, and having thumped them 4-0 we went on to another great occasion involving Newcastle when Dennis "the king of all geordies" netted that magnificent winner at Wembley.
My ear drums ached for a week after the middlesboro game. Probably one of the best atmospheres ever at Maine Road. Not going to mention the Derby at the swamp in the 67-68 season.

5-1 promotion game against Charlton for me. Mainly because you could enjoy it for virtually the whole game, incredible day!

Not at Bradford or Blackburn promotion games so this was my best ever experience of being a City fan until 99 and 2011/12/13.

The only time we ever had to leave the Kippax as it was dangerously crammed with crowds stuck on the stairs at the back. Eventually got in the North stand/ Kippax corner bit.

QPR at Loftus Road some years ago. Paul Walsh scored when the ball hit his face and went in the goal. We were two nil up and two players got sent off including the goalie. Think QPR scored from a free kick. We spent the rest of the match kicking the ball up to Quinn who tried to keep hold of it. We hung on and left singing "Nine men, we only need nine men".

I bumped into a couple of old friends and went to the pub outside and one of them took £40 quid out of the fruity and was very generous with buying the drinks.

The 5-1 is my favourite but, as you can't mention previous games or derbies, I can recall a game at Hillsborough when Colin Hendry played up front and I think City won convincingly. This may have been a ZDS cup game! Vague memories but still gives me a warm glow to this day. Assuming I'm not dreaming this! Other random games would be at Villa in cup when a very young Micah equalised and at Southampton when that German scored the winner......Karl someone perhaps?

European Cup Winners Cup Semi-Final 2nd Leg at Maine Road...

Lost one nil in Germany and in April 1970 had the home leg against Schalke 04.

There were two Schalke04 fans with a banner that they walked on the running track towards the Kippax saying something like best greetings to MCFC which was a nice touch.
They had one of the top wingers in European Football playing for them called Reinhard Libuda, a real class act.

So City are one nil down from the first leg, Genial Joe and Big Mal decide to start the game with two wingers... Tony Towers and Mike Summerbee and give them the complete lesson on how to do it properly. Nelly Young bags a brace, Mike Doyle, Franny and King Colin complete the rout.

Schalke were battered 5-1 (5-2 on aggregate) and we march on to beat Gornik in the final.... and Goodnight Vienna.

Glory days shall return.... although it's been a bloomin' long time!

IIRC Schalke had not conceded in the tournament until the semi-final at Maine Road

PS, I put that game as my best Mercer game in Gary James' biography of Joe
