Best games of football you've ever seen?

A truly fantastic match. I remember thinking they were playing a totally different sport to the one I watched every week at Maine Road (and we had a fantastic team then). It was football from another planet.

Yup, same here if we're talking about a game involving our beloved Blues.. for me, even tops all the the great games such as QPR, Villa and the numerous finals because of (as you say) the quality and intensity both sides produced during the game and those months of 'nip and tuck' between us at the top of the table. So much at stake that night and thank goodness we delivered a major psychological blow to that nasty bunch down the East Lancs.. which affected them for years afterwards!

As for non-City games, some great ones mentioned throughout the thread but I'd still go for Argentina-France (2-1) in the group stage at the 1978 World Cup. Top quality players and management tactics, non-stop end-to-end stuff from both teams. It was an absolute classic..
 
City 2-1 Dippers.

I'm not just saying it because we won the game. Both teams were unbelievable that night, The standard of football andThe intensity were something I've never witnessed before.

I don't think we'll ever see a game like it again in the Premier League.
 
The best 5 and a half minutes of football I have ever seen within a full game involving City, and I have followed them since the Newcastle cup final, was the comeback win against Villa, made even sweeter by the fact their manager was the one and only Slippy G. A magnificent comeback that doesn't get the credit it deserves.

I mean clearly it's not "the best game of football ever seen", but for pure emotion, being 4-0 down from the 1st leg, not getting automatics with 96 points (which would have been good enough any other season) Darren Moore getting abused by some of our knuckle draggers, this game wasn't bad.

 
Belgium v Soviet Union. 1986 World Cup. Incredible stuff from start to finish. Belanov's first goal of his hat-trick is as good a long-range effort as I have ever seen. 4-3 to Belgium, after extra-time.

Without wishing to upset City fans, I thought Bayern’s 3-1 victory at the Etihad in 2013 was one of the most complete performances I have ever seen.
On the Swindon front, the 1992/3 play off victory against Leicester was nerve-racking because of the way the game went, coupled with the prize at steak. The result made all the stress worthwhile as we proceeded to take the Premier League by storm and made 22nd place our own.
We got a goalless draw at Newcastle in 1990. Brilliant game of attacking football.

As a fan,Everton v spurs fa cup semi final, 4-1 win.
Possibly because it was so unexpected, l
remember the press gave us no hope against Klinsmann and he's team mates.

Sunderland v Leeds fa cup final, as a youth I think that was the game that totally began my football passion. Everything that day encompasses what I became to love about the game, amazing drama.
 
Call me an FOC, but Real Nadrid 7-3 v Eintracht Frankfurt at Hampden Park in 1960 was utterly breathtaking. I only saw it on telly, not in the flesh of course.

Th quality of the football, with the goals shared between Puskas an di Stefano IIRC, was beyond anything we'd seen in the UK in those days.

Or is it just distance lending enchantment to the view?
