Best player from our doldrums years (1980 to roughly 2009)

There were lots of great players but it is Ireland that I wish most was a player we had at his prime under Pep.

His combination of busy play and an amazing shot would be right up there imo with the best of Pep's era imo. I'd especially have liked to see him in Pep's early years with David Silva, Aguero, Fernandinho, Gundogan, KDB, Yaya, etc.

How it went so wrong for him is just one of those weird things in football.
I not saying Tevez was a bad signing by any means but it meant Ireland was no longer required for his bursting runs from midfield. He was the one who was used less after his arrival as we played a different system

Jury is still out on him imo

Trevor Francis was the best player i saw at City from the time he joined until the takeover.

Lovee Wiekens remeber him having at least one great game against United as well.
Yes came in for last derby at Maine Rd after injuriea to Distin and I think Howey. Made up a back 3 with Dunne and Mettomo in a game best remembered for Neville feeding the Goat.
