Best War Film??

I can't be the only one who considers Black Hawk Down to be shite?

Probably far too modern for classic status, but I did enjoy American Sniper. The Pianist, Platoon, Saving Private Ryan, Full Metal Jacket, Zero Dark Thirty all excellent. But Apocalypse Now will always be the Daddy for me.
Yep, Apocalypse Now, is the daddy.

Honourable mention for Stalag 17, too. (Although it's possibly more of a prison movie).

Most have been mentioned, but maybe The Thin Red Line? I thought the music and the way it was shot was great. Hotel Rwanda and Imitation Game, although not sure if the last 2 are strictly 'war films'

Fury, I assume it's the most realistic from what veterans have said. It doesn't glorify war. Kelly's heroes is another favourite.
