Big Nige Dropped From Dutch Squad {merged}

Re: Big Nige Dropped {merged}

I hope De Jong retires from international football until this cock of a manager has been let go. I don't remember him having too much to say when De Jong was crunching players in the World Cup and it benefited his team.

van bommel and de jong are 2 different type of bad players because van bommel makes a lot of silly little fouls and is committed in challenges but can also be reckless i would admit.

Please stop talking rubbish

This is van bommel playing for Holland this summer, did BVM ban him?

Both were with the intent to injure unlike Nigels.

I see no difference with de jong lunging in the way he always does with wilkinson lunging at dembele on the touch line because both are reckless and not needed,all people want to see is de jong actually use his head and find different way of being tough,a defensive mid doesn't always have to tackle people or lung in to do his job properly.

Yaya toure at barca used to be the destroyer but how many times did you see him go to ground because some people use their heads a lot more than nigel allows himself to or maybe like some people in the dutch media have said he is just incapable of doing so because he is not clever enough and that to me in itself is very dangerous,someone said criminals keeps offending because it is down to their genes whereas de jong has been warned about his excessive force but clearly doesn't seem to learn.

I would be happy to see him banned and go see a shrink to could curb his volatile nature.
newcastle got right into us.winning tackles 50/50s and some they shouldnt have had any right to win.this is when you look to your midfield and your best ball winner to address the problem.
de jong tackles hard but fair,he goes for the ball everytime.i dont remember seeing him trip a player,nevermind an all out assault on one.

i dont know what team you support or what country you are from but they will have a player who is employed in the same role as de jong.

de jong is innocent but the player who hacked milner to the ground clearly isnt.

So i guess it is ben arfa fault that de jong the thug decided to scissor tackle with more force than needed and to bend his right knee to make contact with ben arfa,you can see that de jong could have stayed up and just bugged ben arfa if he wanted to as tevez was right there next to him so he had no other way to turn to but no,the maniac that he is just can't think properly and know that being a destroyer doesn't mean lunging at every opportunity.

The problem is not that he broke ben arfa leg but more the way he tackled hatem with such force that it caused the leg break,call it luck and ben arfa being unlucky but it is too many players who have been on the receiving of stupid and needless nigel de jong excessive force to say the man isn't too overly aggressive,you just have to look at some of the youtube clips of him to know he doesn't care if he takes out someone as long as he clears everything and that to me is wrong.

Tiote was also a destroyer yesterday and you didn't see him make this sort of challenges especially so early in the game which is what really makes this injury to ben arfa the more obvious for me that de jong wanted to send a message to hatem that if you go on them mazy runs of yours this is what is going to happen so in some way scare him or make him play a different kind of game.

Nigel is a good defensive mid who just needs to learn how to decrease the force that he uses to be less reckless and cost other players well being.

P1ss of Zinaldo. There's a good lad. It was bad luck that Ben Arfa's leg was broken in the challenge. Had his leg not been broken (or injured in any way), no-one would have even mentioned the challenge.

Oh no... lets us keep our little rag pet.

I think he needs some attention and he makes me realise I aint as stupid as I thought

Re: Big Nige Dropped {merged}

This is all afters from the world cup. That whole Dutch side is dirty as fuck and the coach full well knows it, he sets them out like that.

Nig is being made a scape goat over Hollands disgracefull performance in the world cup final and it wasnt just Nig making the bad tackles in that game they could have had 2 or 3 players on red cards.

Its a shame as thats surley the last time he will play for his country under that manager. Absolutely no way back when you take that sort of action. Hes much too good not to be playing international football but there you go.

Its completely out of context and the replays show it wasnt even a foul. Well out of order IMO. These sort of knee jerk reactions get players really really bad reps hes going to have to watch his back big time in the prem with refs from now out they will be lining up to give him red cards.

Re: Big Nige Dropped {merged}

There was no malice from De Jong, I truly believe that. If Ben Arfa and Hughton can accept what happened without crying like babies, why are other parties so determined to take this up? If NDJ was punished and was sent off would he be in the national squad? Probably, but why would a red make anything different? There is this sense of him 'getting away with it', and that is totally inaccurate - did he set out to break his leg? Absolutely not!

Undecided about the actual challenge - he did get the ball, but at the end of the day if there was no injury this circus would have died down after a brief moan, maybe wouldn't even have been highlighted. It was a challenge that maybe didn't need to be made in that way but players like him are out there to make hard tackles, it's how they play, loads of others do it week in week out, but NDJ is going to suffer defamation of character because of the attitude others are taking.

Key point:
Because the referee Martin Atkinson admitted he saw the incident at the time and decided not to punish De Jong, the FA cannot pursue the matter

Ref saw it, that's that.

Regardless, criticism from pundits is one thing. To have your own International Manager come out with something like that is probably pretty distressing. Nige does like a tackle and he does occasionally get it wrong. Maybe someone does need to speak to him, fine line between losing the aggression and trying to stop bad injuries (if you even can), but what is not needed is this public hanging by his own national team boss and others.

Van Bommel point is valid too. The Dutch coach must know what Nigel is like personally, to a degree, so he must think that he meant to cause an injury. In which case NDJ is completely entitled to walk away from his setup.

Re: Big Nige Dropped {merged}

What I find extremely irritating is the order in which BVM has gone about things.

He dropped him, talked to the press and THEN said he'd talk to him, I mean really. If that's not shoddy management, I don't know what is.

Re: Big Nige Dropped {merged}

BVM should drop his son-in-law (Mark Van Bommell) while he is at it.
