I would be happy to see him banned and go see a shrink to could curb his volatile nature.

I'm struggling to express just how stupid this comment is.

I wouldn't worry. Toma exposed this guy as a pleb a few nights back. He's either an undercover rag or a complete tit, it's always a close call.

There is a couple of them lurking about Zinaldo is displaying Ragish behavior with his Van Bommel comparison.

I see no difference with de jong lunging in the way he always does with wilkinson lunging at dembele on the touch line because both are reckless and not needed, all people want to see is de jong actually use his head and find different way of being tough,a defensive mid doesn't always have to tackle people or lung in to do his job properly.

Yaya toure at barca used to be the destroyer but how many times did you see him go to ground because some people use their heads a lot more than nigel allows himself to or maybe like some people in the dutch media have said he is just incapable of doing so because he is not clever enough and that to me in itself is very dangerous, someone said criminals keeps offending because it is down to their genes whereas de jong has been warned about his excessive force but clearly doesn't seem to learn.

I would be happy to see him banned and go see a shrink to could curb his volatile nature.

How the fuck is it reckless if he won the ball? Have you ever gone in for a full blooded challenge? And if so can you control your momentum?

Go and look up the word reckless in a dictionary, consider the definition contained in it and then ask yourself the question again. I think you'll find that entering into a full blooded challenge when you cannot exercise control over your momentum fits the description of reckless perfectly.

I'm a big fan of Nigel and the tackle he made on Saturday was no different than the ones he made frequently against Chelsea that earned him all the plaudits in the media last week. Having said that, if a reckless tackle is one that is disregardful or indifferent to the potential consequences of it then, no doubt about it, Nigel's a reckless tackler.

I love his effort, will to win and disagree with those who say he can only pass sideways. But I also agree with those who believe that he needs to reign it in a bit sometimes. In my opinion he didn't have to make that tackle on saturday but he did so because he was "laying down a marker".

Banning him from the squad is ridiculous though, he's obviously being made a scapegoat as the Dutch try and re-build their reputation after the world cup final.

De Jong dropped from Dutch squad

Due to the tackle on Ben Arfa the Dutch National Manager has dropped De Jong. I personally think this is a joke how media and fans alike are calling the tackle malicious and wasn't intended on winning the ball.

I can understand Newcastle fans being upset as one of their best players is out for probably the rest of the season, but for other fans to say he needs to be banned for life and that it was a disgrace I think most fans need to pick up a DVD about football in the 1970s because tackles like that were considered fair and were very common.

If Ben Arfa hadn't of broken his leg people wouldn't be going on like they are doing but because the lad unfortunately did break his leg people think it was due to the severity of the tackle but its the case of being unfortunate then it being a dirty challenge.
There have been little tackles in the past that have caused broken legs Cisse and Hartson are 2 I remember where the legs have been kicked and snapped doesn't mean the tackles were dirty but just that they were unfortunate.

People say De Jong didn't have to make the tackle I forgot where it says in the Footballing book that the opponents have to be a threat before you can get the ball off em. People just want football to become a none physical sport and I won't be surprised if that's what happens.

Re: Big Nige Dropped {merged}

First of all - I love De Jong (not in a man-love kind of way), he's one of those players you'd rather have on your team than have to play against. He's been brilliant for us over the past 18months, I love his enthusiasm and commitment.
He's not a malicious player, he's firm but fair and I guess well respected for it.

However, it is fair to say this kind of thing has been coming. Seeing some of his tackles, he always flies in at 100mph, last ditch attempt. Usually he comes away with the ball, and it looks spectacular, but this approach always has it's dangers and these kind of things can happen. I feel bad for Ben Arfa, he looks a useful player and I wish him well but it was an accident, he went for the ball, got it fair but unfortunately struck the lad's standing led fairly hard. There was no protest from the players and the ref was right in front of it.

There have been a number of bad leg breaks in football recently. As has been pointed out, that is now three high profile bad tackles from De Jong in the past year, two of which have resulted in broken legs. De Jong's reputation will now preceed him, and it wouldn't suprise me to see him collect even more bookings in the future.

I think this is more a message for him to perhaps look at things more closely and maybe calm down his tacking a touch. As has been said you don't always have to go to ground.

Well in that case any 50/50 ball would be reckless, how would you decide who got the ball? People would be being sent off left, right and centre.
