I personally think this is a joke how media and fans alike are calling the tackle malicious and wasn't intended on winning the ball.

I can understand Newcastle fans being upset as one of their best players is out for probably the rest of the season, but for other fans to say he needs to be banned for life and that it was a disgrace I think most fans need to pick up a DVD about football in the 1970s because tackles like that were considered fair and were very common.

If Ben Arfa hadn't of broken his leg people wouldn't be going on like they are doing but because the lad unfortunately did break his leg people think it was due to the severity of the tackle but its the case of being unfortunate then it being a dirty challenge.
There have been little tackles in the past that have caused broken legs Cisse and Hartson are 2 I remember where the legs have been kicked and snapped doesn't mean the tackles were dirty but just that they were unfortunate.

People say De Jong didn't have to make the tackle I forgot where it says in the Footballing book that the opponents have to be a threat before you can get the ball off em. People just want football to become a none physical sport and I won't be surprised if that's what happens.

I am not a united fan and will never be as i hate man utd with their obvioys cheating and help they received from referees in the late 90s and stuff but i despise bad and reckless players.

The law says 'if the ball is there to be won legally, you can win it'. Legal tackle in the eyes of everyone except for slow motion action replays.

I guess, though, the law should be changed for Gentleman's conduct:

The ball rolls to a 50/ 50 position. De Jong is running full pelt as is Feltcher. Nige remembers Zinaldo's critique and screeching to a halt, pulls out a deerstalker, to doff with, and a pipe.
